Here’s an odd duck for you. It’s single cavity and it has a moving base plate bolted to the sprue plate. 42 GA on one side and R Hoch and 452400 on the other. I assume it’s .452 caliber and makes a 400 gr RNFP boolit.

Never seen one quite like this before.
R. Hoch made good molds which are now being made by Dave farmer at Colorado something or other. They are iron and can rust if not taken care of. I have a few molds similar to the one in the picture, it was made by D. Farmer but I believe it is marked "R. Hoch".
Aren’t Hoch molds nose pour? Or am I thinking of another brand?
Mine is a nose pour.
I have a Hoch mold. Nose pour 650 gr. RN 50 cal. Works well in my 50-140-3.25 SS rolling block. Not a walking around gun.

Hoch lathe-bored the blocks out of Meehanite to whatever dimensions the customer wanted. All, as far as I know, are nose-pour. Hoch stamped his name and the date of manufacture, as well as the nominal caliber and weight, on the mould.
From the pictures, yours looks like an early Hoch manufacture, rather than a later Colorado Shooter’s Supply version. Early on, he only sold the moulds, and you had to grind a semicircular cutout in Lyman handles for the blocks to fit the sprue-plate swivel. Later, Hoch (or maybe Dave Farmer) supplied his own handles.

Here's one for you, bore riding long range wide nose for the chambers and wide land five groove rifling in the blued steel Ruger Security Six.
I can't remember how many Hoch molds I have but it is more than a half dozen. They are some of the finest molds I use. They usually have a serial number and the date of manufacture stamped on the sprue plate. The size is indicated by a six digit number. The first three numbers are the diameter and the last three digits are the weight. They are still in production out in western Colorado near Grand Junction. I believe Midway even lists a few in their catalogue.

the only person that I know building molds is old west bullet molds in Fruita. Farmer and Colo shooters supply moved to New Mexico quite a few years ago. I don't know of anyone building the Hoch style mold , but I could be wrong.
Dave has handles on his website but one can never get in touch with him. I had to buy my handles from CPA Rifles. Gail Shuttleworth at CPA said to me "Dave could be dead, he's so irresponsible" - so they stopped buying Hoch'sQuote:

Excellent nose pours also are Dave Leeth's (God Rest his Soul this February). I have several Hoch's, the originals & the R. Hoch's in 32-40 weights
The mold maker now that has the finest molds IMO are Accurate molds. Any caliber with a 1/8" greater flat nose and the best service there is. My latest order is a 28-30-120 mold from Accurate, clone of the Ideal 279221, and Tom shipped it to me in 4 days from date of order
