Nice group I got a 311299 coming of it will shoot half as good as that I will be happy.
Have you ever shot a group like that and were afraid to take one more shot because you might get a flyer and mess up your group.
Cool, ain't it?
I also like the made in USA ruler you got there.
One of these days, one of these days........ Boom! Bang! Straight to enlightenment. Till then, congrats. I will be there soon.
Big yes also. Seems like if I am going to get a flier, it will be the 4th. shot the majority of the time, and then the 5th. goes back into the first three. Seems also like when I am shooting 10 shot groups it is also a 7th or 8th. shot that goes out, and then the rest come back in. It's kind of like being haunted or something.

Hey, Jim. This may be an old thread but do you have any troubles with that NOE Mold? I bought one 316299 and I keep getting frosted hotspots on my boolits. Actually smaller diameter where the hot spot is. I have tried everything.
No trouble with mine, its a work of art.
I took Argie to the range today and did a repeat performance. Pissed off the guy
next to me with about 9000 bucks worth of rifle and other misc junk,
and me with wheel weights and open sights:bigsmyl2:
I can make it do that under certain conditions, like if ambient air temp in my casting area is really cold
its really hard to keep everything at an optimal temp. This mold isn't so bad, but the 3 cavity 7mm hunter mold
I have, drove me batty the other day. Till I got the sprue plate hot enough to fill the bases out
the mold would be too hot and make frosty's.
In the majority of cases, the "flyer" is not a flyer - if you know how to shoot. 3 shot groups mean almost nothing. I only use them to sight in. This is why some manufacturers make accuracy claims that are better than what the gun will actually do. If you shoot enough 3 shot groups, with a gun shooting 2" groups, you will get a few 1/2" groups. It is a matter of probabilities.
I use 5 shot groups to test loads and then go to multiple ten shot groups to "prove" a load.
I was told the meaning of "fliers" by an old time shooter. He said that "Fliers" on a target with a good group going meant you were an "Avian Lover" - you like seeing "Snow Birds"! The other wisdom he gave me about "Fliers" was quite simply that "I didn`t like prosperity"!Robert
Why did you shoot your ruler ?
LOL
I ran 316299's through my 1891 over 2400, good groups but they were lower than I wanted with the battle sight, so I run 311407's through it - I can get those to shoot near poa. I'll have to try some 316299's sized to .314" over 5744 sometime...
Is that with an 1891 or 1909 Mauser?
I had similar results, starting in 1962 with 311299 in an 1891 using modest charges of Hi-Vel #2. That boolit also works well in .303 British, 7.62x54R and 7.7x58.
