Lee pot question
I was given an older Lee bottom pour pot. I’ve cleaned it up but cannot get any lead to pour through the spout. I took the rod out and tried to run a drill bit up through from the bottom but it goes in about 1/2” and stops. Is the hole in these straight or are there 2 angled holes that meet? I don’t want to force the bit through and mess it up.
Thanks

I believe the hole is straight through, but it is not very big. Maybe your drill bit is simply too large? Plug it in and let it get hot, and then run a straightened out paper clip through that hole.

If it's the ten pound pot it has an angled hole. Last one I cleaned, I poured the alloy out and used a propane torch to heat the spout (mostly from the inside) until hot enough to run the last couple drops of lead out. Then I picked at it with a piece of wire until all the junk came out.

Yes it’s a 10lb. pot. Whatever’s clogging it up is tight. I can’t even blow through it.
A paper clip goes in about 1/2” and stops too. I can’t see the top hole to try that approach.
I’ll give it another go with a finer wire.

Hah! A needle in a hemostat got it.

Get it hot with a torch, and start poking from the outside in.
Its a needle & seat sort of deal.
If you damage the seat from digging around on the inside--- its a gonner.
If that happens, you can plug or weld up the hole and have a ladle/dipping pot.
Oppps.
Just noticed ya got it fixed.
Oh well, maybe this will help somebody else on down the road.

If bad comes to worst and you cannot get it to stop dripping after your pot surgery then for just $8.00 plush shipping.

Good luck and hope you get it repaired and it doesn't drip.
