Is it acceptable to wear only green Army-style mechanics overalls as soon as you are retired?
My wife doesn’t think so;)
Do they sell them at Surplus stores?
I was a 63Y.
Thanks for help in locating some!

I would try to get over it and turn the page to the next chapter of your life.
Are you referring to overalls or coveralls? All the overalls I ever saw were blue, coveralls come in many different colors.
Some habits are hard to forget. Unless your being presented to your wifes' friends, clean is what matters.
She will get use to the overalls in time just hang in there
I LIKE my overalls and wear them often, but coveralls are a whole different thing! I would only wear them while tarping a load of freight, in fact I hate the things!
they got other colors. [blue, tan, green, burgundy]
some even come with chrome fasteners.
usually some nice white penny loafers and a straw fedora makes the outfit complete.
There is a local guy wears overalls all the time, summer with the sleeves cut off, real hot, legs cut off.But he wears the bright blue with orange stripe kind.Hes often on the telly as he walks the streets most days with bare feet.I still have masses of green overalls, cause i was in charge of issueing them.New pair every day, untill the house filled with them.I used to wear them out, then one day in the supermarket a woman demanded to know if i had anything on underneath. She made a hell of a scene, very embarrasing.Yet you see 10 year old girls with skimpy shorts and suggestive message T shirts all the time, she didnt object to them.
You haven't lived until you wore nomex coveralls trying to stop a leaking gas line for four or five hours in 90+F weather. You can't drink enough water and lets not forget the mandatory nomex head gear covering all but the eyes, mouth and nose. I am so glad to be done with coveralls in warm weather it isn't funny. I will wear Carhartts to fish in but only on water I can stand on.
By golly, if you are old enough to retire, you should be able to wear anything you want to.
One of my uncles had two old bachelor uncles that did not drive in town. They would drive to his farm and get him to take them to town when they needed to go. back in the early 70's they had a funeral to go to, so had him take them to town to get new bib overalls. My Aunt told them they couldn't wear them to the funeral, and they said why the heck not, they were brand new. lol
Blue?
Rufus, man,,,,,, all I got are RED coveralls, and overalls, and coats.
Camo bibs....can't tell when they're dirty, well at least by sight?
I'm guessing that a fellow has the right to wear whatever he wants to . . . but maybe the bigger question is how long do you expect to remain married? LOL Like most things in life, there is a "time and a place" for everything.
Happy Wife?---Happy life!--Just sayin. LOL
I had a neighbor who wore blue coveralls like a uniform most weekends. He had a government job that required a white shirt & tie during the week.
If a hostile stranger wants to know what I'm wearing under my coveralls I think I'd give the answer the Scots are reputed to give when asked about their kilts. ;-)
Yep, If some strange broad made a scene about what I was wearing under my coveralls, or anything else, I think I would show her. Probably what she was after in the first place.
