testing lubes in the heat

I've had 5 mixed samples of white label lube and 1 older one from Lyman sitting in the sun on my reloading bench. I'm looking for a lube that can hold up to the summer heat in central WA. I'm glad I had the Lyman lube in a saucer as it's turning into a puddle. I purposely left the white label lubes in the plastic bags they came in to add to the heat. None of the white label lubes puddled or even changed shapes. They did soften in the afternoon heat but looked just like they started out. I wish I'd done a sniff test on them as I would have picked the one that smelled the best when lubing bullets and then when shooting.

In the past I used a 50/50 style lube and had issues with it in the summer time. Hence the reason for the test.

White Label Carnuba Red doesn't melt in So. Cal heat and doesn't lead barrels. Have used it for rifles and hand guns with no problem in all sorts of heat.

I've never had a problem with 50/50 in the Arizona heat

Speaking of which, how hot is it in Arizona as of now?

Well sir, she was 104 today in my neck o the desert. Had a couple decent days last week. Twas hotternell 110+ for the last 6 weeks or so.

Think about using it in your lube, I did ... Paraffin, melting temperature is 154

That is why I switched 100% to power coated boolits here in the desert southwest. 120 in the shade and they are not sticky!

And no smoke or gunk in the barrel after hundreds of rounds fired.

If ya plan on doin a stint in death valley ya could even just run pure bw for lube but it aint gonna do much good below 120 i imagine
