Send the cylinder and have the throats reamed and honed. Normally I size the 30 carbine throats to .3105" but I can go whatever diameter as long as none of the throats are larger. Ruger cylinders are fairly inconsistent due to the way Ruger...

Well, one thing for certain, that oversize boolit will exit the front of the cylinder at throat diameter so all this is doing is creating excessive pressure. You cannot push a .432" boolit through a .430" throat and have it come out any larger than...

I also mod these Lee collet crimp dies so they work properly. The crimp band needs to be narrower, and it needs to be brought down so it only crimps the case mouth and not the boolit too. Here is a thread with photos detailing my mods for these...

There is a herd of over a hundred that stays in the highway right of way on the Alcan in Northern British Columbia. They roam back and forth for probably close to 100 miles and will sometimes bed down on the asphalt as it is a little warmer, makes...

Why winch the boat trailer up on op of the modified camper trailer, just back it on and unhook. the hitch can stick out behind the other trailer 4 feet, to save room. Easy Peasy, If that is what a guy wanted. I had a friend that bought a damaged...

The first buffalo meat I wound up with was from an older bull that a friend killed. The meat was tough, but still had a very good taste to it. I have since gotten it from younger animals, and it is just plain good eating.

I like clam chowder, have tried oyster stew, and didn't care for it. I can get down a few very small ones in gumbo, but if they are very big just do not like them. I do not even like the real big ones fried, but sure like the smaller ones fried. ...

The Lee collet crimp die for 44 mag and 45 Colt is great. However in it's as-shipped state from Lee, it needs a bit of tweaking for best results. The crimp band on these is probably 2 1/2 times wider than it needs to be, and it crimps not only the...

There are several different species of bison, but as far as I know, buffalo and bison are the same animal. It depends on where you draw to hunt bison in Alaska, delta area the success ratio is very high. If bison are on Kodiac, I would think they...

Maybe we should test them all 100 times a day for, say 40 years to find out which ones wears out first too. lol

Shooting cast boolits in the 480 Ruger can have some problems. SAAMI specs (and Ruger) call for a rather abrupt 45 degree step which transitions into the cylinder throats. This can cause the chambers to shave off a "ring" of lead from the boolits as...

Try and push a .452" boolit into the cylinder throats from the front of the cylinder. If they won't go then the throats are acting like a multi port sizing die and there will ALWAYS be an improvement after sizing thoats to .4525" so that the .452"...
