Best 22 cylinder protectors I've found are the yellow drywall hole expanders. Fit perfectly and that plastic will take three or four hits. I bought a box of either 50 or 100. Enough to last!

There are the same three components to many sins, including adultery, obesity, drug/EOTH abuse, etc. We are all biological sinners - driven to it by our biology. It is our responsibility to choose God over biology.

Great looking rig. Mexican leather can be very good to very iffy. Some of the tanning process used create a much weaker leather. For a holster it should not be an issue. For saddles and harnesses it is something to be aware of.

Leather dye will work, assuming the ramrod isn't too oily. I use ferric nitrate on new rods to darken them. You would do yourself a favor to find a split hickory ramrod if you want it to last.
