Have any of you tried an peep sight on a handgun? I saw them somewhere, you replace the rear sight blade on a S&W or Blackhawk with a blade that looks like a peep sight. Wondering if they help.

I still use my old brown colored Herters Scale, that has a paddle and a reservoir for oil, (never used this function). It was bought in the late 60's. I have some electronic scales, I only use them to weigh bullets/boolits, broadheads, arrows...

I was really enjoying watching this video. Having shot some of the 125 gr .357 magnums rounds that are legendary man stoppers, I always thought if these loads didn't drop a bad guy, the muzzle blast and concussion would surely stun him! I...

Just my experience, I never had trouble handloading a 150 gr jacketed bullet to right at 3000 fps in any bolt action 30/06 I owned. But with the 270 Winchester, I never could get 3100 fps with a 130 gr bullet, at what I thought was safe...

HR, I have watched your videos and thoroughly enjoy them. Keep up the good work! (Just subscribed!) I bought my S&W model 19 with 4" barrel many years ago. In a little gun and pawn shop where a police officer had traded the Model 19 on the...

Having a 7.62 x 40 WT, (which I like very much), I quickly looked into this "new" Wilson cartridge. Looking at loading data between the two, 7.62 x 40 WT vs the 300 Hamr, it seems the HAMR is using on average, 1 more grain of powder than the...

They should have just put a barrel on it like the original Colt Python, and then I would be interested in buying one. Looks like copy of a Smith 686.

I get better groups with lever actions if I hold the forearm in my hand, and then rest my hand on the sand bag/front mechanical rest. If I try to rest the lever action forearm on sand bag/mechanical rest like when using a full stock rifle, the...

Yes I have his mount on a Winchester 1894 30/30 that was made in 1948, and it works great. Basil Pearson is a great guy to deal with, as I had the chance to talk to him on the phone. His mount is A+.

It seems more and more with gun manufacturers, we the buyers are the "quality control", we get the firearms, test them out, and have to send them back for modifications and repairs. A lot of the firearms we buy are simply "kit guns", that we...

Hickok replied to a thread reducing my 45-70 load in Cast Boolits
Buy a box of factory 300 gr jacketed 45/70 ammo and let him shoot them. They have moderate recoil. If he is comfortable with the 300 gr factory loads, you can get a 300 to 350 gr mold, and start making some good cast boolits reloads.

You have what a good 38/55 should be. A .375" groove diameter barrel is perfect, and many good molds are available. Some of the .38/55 rifles have groove diameters so large, that using a proper boolit will not allow chambering. (I know, the...

I think of deer running with both lungs and/or heart destroyed in this way,.... I believe it takes from 10 seconds to 45 seconds for the lose of blood to the brain to cause "blackout" and then subsequently death due to the lack of oxygen. A deer...

I have killed my share of deer with a .44 Mag and a .45 Colt and cast boolits. Lung hits with flat meplats get complete penetration, and run from 30 to 100 yards on average, with good blood trails. To put a deer down "where it stands" requires...

Only short range, but you can see the bullet gets complete penetration. I am not advocating the 9mm for deer, but this shows it can work, if everything is right, and a perfect shot.
