Honduran mahogany is pretty nice stuff. Used to get scraps from the pattern shop at work. I used some to make a couple of loading blocks.

Got to talking to a guy at work. told me his dad had brought a german 8mm rifle home from the war. had some ammo, too, but he couldn't figure out what the big deal was. The rifle wasn't accurate at all. I asked him to show me what they had been...

I am very sorry to hear that, country gent. It's always difficult to lose a loved one, but it's something we all must go through. the Lord will give you the strength you need, if you ask Him.

CastingFool replied to a thread Duke in Fla box in Pay It Forward
I had the box a while back, and I was shocked to see what I had received. Most of it was just junk, like a cheap screwdriver with a bent shaft. I did throw away a couple of items, kept two (a plastic tray that comes inside a box of ammo and a car...

CastingFool replied to a thread My 105 shell in Vintage Ammo
I believe you are correct. I was a crewchief on a Huey, H model, but also had the opportunity to work on the weapons system on gunships. I have a couple of empty casings. the blue color is a code for an inert round, which actually means that the...

CastingFool replied to a thread Hearing protection? in Our Town
Back in 71, when I was in basic training, hearing protection was mandatory. I did forget my earplugs once, and after firing 75 rds, and listening to 100 other guys fire their 75 rounds, I never forgot again. I do wear HP when mowing the lawn,...

Good job, Megasupermagnum! Quick work is fun once in a while. One year, I hunted about 4 days straight. Getting up at 4:30 am 4 days in a row was kinda rough. The laugh was on me, though. When I was still working, that was my normal getting up...

Being a handyman of sorts, I don't like to pay someone to fix something I can do myself (not always successful, but more often than not) I have fixed refrigerators, washers, vacuum cleaners, etc. What I do is look up the model number on...

Both the Lee 452-200 RF and 255 RF feed well through my Henry BBS. Crimp groove is located the same distance from the nose, so the coal is the same for both loads.

I'll be out on April 17, with my 12 ga, loaded with 3" Win, 2 oz of copper plated 4's. With the tight Hastings choke, a 40 yd shot is very doable.

they are cagy little critters. They will climb trees, too. We have a couple of mulberry trees out back, and when the berries are ripe, quite often they climb up to get their pick.

Years ago, I was fishing for bass at a small lake. I was using a lure very similar to a Rapala, only plastic. All of a sudden, I had a good strike, nothing like any bass I had caught before. Fought hard, too. After a couple of minutes, I saw a...

I get my buckets free, from the bakery at a local supermarket. The caveat is that I have to wash them out of old frosting. BTW, if you read the ingredients they use, it will scare you, it's mostly some kind of hydrogenated oil.
