Haven't messed with in a couple of years now. Tried the RCBS set and achieved some success but never got the results that I wanted on a continuing basis. Haven't tried the 9mm but it's in the same category as the .45 ACP. Really not a show...

Some just shoot like that. I've never got good bench accuracy from my smoothbores. I had an Interarms 7X57 that wouldn't shoot from a bench, but was tack driving deadly off hand.

This is a copy of the hat Charles Bent wore when he was running Bent's Fort. John Stetson also used it as his original pattern, Boss of the Plains. Most hats companies sell under that name, but are nothing like the orginal. 4" brim, 3 3/4 " crown. I...

Look up "transonic bullet instability" for lots and lots of reading material about why that transition point is less than ideal for best accuracy.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but I believe that Beretta has said that the 3032 should not have any ammo fired through it that produces more than 130 ft/lbs of energy. I know that a number of folks have had slides crack or break in those guns from...

The Aguilla .22 brass is slightly softer and seems to be about the same hardness as the older copper .22 cases, and that would be reason enough for me to keep it on hand for the older guns with weak springs, as they fire the stuff well even if they...

The 580 action might end up being a little bit short, as the bolt stroke is only 1.350" and while you could probably elongate that to a hair over 1.5" in the milling machine, you'd also have to enlarge the ejection port, as it's only 1.500" and the...

I tried a batch of Rich Pierce's Burlington Chert flints. Good price, they worked. But. I got a LOT more wear on the frizzen than with English or French flints. Chert is harder, and I suspect that is what the Kentucky flints are, as true...

I recently made an order with MP on a Tuesday, I was casting with the molds Friday the same week. The parts I'd ordered the same day from 100 miles away took 3 days longer to get here, and cost as much in shipping.

Do NOT use plaster of Paris. It has too much potential to create issues down the road. If you're trying to confirm a chambering, then most methods will work, if you're looking for very precise dimensions of the chamber, then cerrosafe is about...

A Stevens #44-1/2 would be a nice one, but would require careful shopping for a donor to keep to the budget. A small frame Uberti rolling block, or a Martini Cadet could be nice as well. The Ruger #1 would also be a careful shopping endeavor, but...

For a bit of smoke flavor, no matter what I'm cooking on the BBQ, I just cut a few small branches from the nearby tree, and put them on the coals. I can reach a maple tree from my deck, so that's what I use. Makes a great steak.

That was the second generation can and after the 60s. Hodgdon started out packaging surplus M1 Carbine powder in the late 50s. It came in a metal can covered with an orange paper wrapper at as I recall $1.60 per pound can. 4831 was marketed the...

It's a matter of matching the "load column" to the case. The internal dimensions are pretty critical on a case to get good crimps. The "book" recipes are designed to give a good crimp with a specific set of components. Any variation in the...
