At just south of 400 dollars, the MGM 20 inch barrel seems to be the one to beat. I can not fathom getting together parts to either line a current barrel nor do a stub barrel and it costing any less in the long run. Plus as far as I can hear tell...

We always used to save the heart, liver and brain on the deer we shot, brains and eggs were always a favorite, haven't had any since early 90's, CWD you know. The wife cooked bear pancreas once, not bad but never tried pancreas or thymus from deer...

This was an unopened pound from early on Obama's reign(2010), slightly swelled and when I pulled the foam seal a VERY - VERY strong odor of BLEACH. I can smell it from 20 feet away so should be easy enough for anyone to tell. I had forgotten this...

My way to measure three groove or 5 groove or 7 groove ect. Barrels is maybe overly simple ... but it has served me well thus far. I drive a soft lead ball of 50 or 54 cal down a well greased bore. I then clean it carefully and in several...

Have a thought about building an Encore rifle barrel in 357 Mag. I would like it to have a fairly fast twist for heavy long boolits. My desire is for a 200+ grain boolit at subsonic speed in a short barrel that eventually will receive a suppressor. ...

You'll probably want to use something other than pure lead. 20-1 or 16-1 both make good bullets. A good 405 gr bullet sized .458 or 459 should serve you well. Start with 70 grs. of 2f, with a .030 fiber wad between the bullet and the powder. ...

Better cast those from 16-1 You will also want to make sure when you load those bullets with black the base of the bullet doesn't extend past the base of the neck.

Is there a general rule or reason to size gas checks closer to bullet size? If the gas check is too much larger than the bullet it is going to expand the casing/neck and you won't have neck tension.
