If you get the dimensions of a heeled boolit , I betcha Tom at "Accurate Molds" would either have one in his inventory or would build a mold that is exact to your needed spec's. I have had Tom build me three new spec molds and have purchased a...

I shoot my 375 with black powder sometimes. I call it a 38-82 just to confuse people. It's considerably more powerful than a 38-55 since it holds twice as much powder behind the same bullet. If you want to be able to fire more than one shot...

I have shot BP in both of those. The 375 H&H is a hoot with BP. It is easy to shoot and fouling is the only big problem. Loading duplex loads cures this. I loaded like 5 or 6 grains IMR 4227 under the load of BP. Very clean shooting and just a...

Not familiar with your rifle. Also is the chamber set up for 45 Colt for sure? Could it be a short 45-70 case 45-60ish. Reason I ask is that the 45 Colt is significantly smaller when loading a .458 diameter boolit. Probably split cases like mad....

Never need to pound a patched ball down in a clean barrel ... either your patch lube is squirrelly or the rifling is rough. Ensure your balls are round and patch's are even thickness. Also experiment with the .495 balls (BOUGHT) so as to negate...

1 ... not enough lube 2 ... wrong oil after cleaning 3 ... as you surmised ... too much of the wrong oil left when shooting begins In really dry conditions I have even lubed over the boolit after loading the revolver. This helps soften fouling...

That 18 twist barrel should stabilize 405's all day long. As above tho, the lighter boolits will lose stability at long range and believe it or not, wind will knock em around way out. 2 or 300 yards tho will be fun what with the lighter recoil...

Thanks fella's. My decision to trade came from the years mounting having the Shiloh 45-120 setting in the safe. The Shiloh had the shotgun butt. And yes it came to life with 135 grains of GOEX 2Fg powder under a 540 grain gubbermint boolit. I...

You can remove heat treating(quenching) that was done, air cool and you will be back to the hardness of alloy. Post number two has the correct answer.
