Just checked. Powder Valley has H4198 for $26 and change. If you can get some buddies to make an order, you can split the haz charge. I think I saw where precision reloading was waiving the haz mat charge right now

Thought you had tried 4198 with good luck? It shows a fairly wide range of velocities in the 38-55. I've also had good luck with 3031 at 1600, depending on your barrel length you might try 30-32 gr 3031

Quote: Is the Lee offering any good? I started out with the Lee mold in my Jess re-bored Marlin. Bullets shot great, maybe slightly better than the one I settled on. I ordered the Accurate 38-250B after seeing the results many were getting on...

It's probably my most used powder. Use it with 1 oz loads with my 16 ga., and plinking loads in the 308 and 38-55 with cast. Occaisionally use it in the 45acp as well. The shotgun and rifles are clean, the acp with the light bullet loads I like is a...

Your right, dug it out to check and it is a very fine rod shape. My memory went along with my youth. I'm thinking about trying it with the NOE version of the Saeco 315 in my 308

I traded into a couple pounds of Norma 202 awhile back. Norma claims it was developed for the 308 and I've used it to good effect with their data for 150s in that cartridge. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it for cast loads? It's a ball powder and...

ole_270 replied to a thread Babbit in Lead and Lead Alloys
I've got several bars of the segmented bar type babbit. Marked National Lead Co and stamped with the #4, was hoping it was SAE #4 tin based babbit. I finally sent some off for testing, yeah, not so much. 2.6 Sn, 5.3 Sb. Hardware babbbit? Lots of...
