Yesterday I finally got around to cleaning my Uberti 1873 Winchester clone. Shame on me for letting it go so long. Its a .45 Colt. I think I must have had at least 500 rounds through it since the last cleaning. All I've been shooting through it were...

And BTW, There will be days when no matter how you try, you simply will not be able to cast anything worth keeping! We all have those days. Don't give up. Just walk away for the day and try again another day. You might be casting too cold, You might...

When the nearest person is 50+ feet away, risk of exposure is nil. Get a life. I get more exposure going to the pharmacy for my meds or the grocery store for food.

jimb16 replied to a thread On brass.... in Cast Boolits
I don't get anal about extreme accuracy so I seldom sort my brass. I do inspect it and discard anything questionable. I do trim and occasionally anneal. If I can hit what I'm aiming at 99.9% of the time, I'm perfectly happy with what I'm doing. I...

Actually, I've been reorganizing my ammo shelves and cabinets. I found 3 boxes of ammo for a gun I no longer have. Salvaged the primers and powder. Melted down the bullets for recasting. Tossed the brass in the scrap bucket. I've got a 5 gal. bucket...

PC'ed and GC'ed a batch of .357 155 gr. SWCs. Also sized and deprimed 100 .45 Colt cases. I try to spend about 2 hr.s per day fiddling in the "lab". I'm getting a lot of those "when I get around to it" jobs done.

Mine is a 24 inch barrel. Its a little muzzle heavy, but it is accurate and recoil is practically non-existent.

Even though we are under "STAY AT HOME" ORDERS, I snuck out to the range today. Took the 1873 Uberti clone. I've never had a lever action before that is so accurate. I had a Marble's tang sight put on it and what a difference! I removed the disk and...

Busy day today! Reorganized the ammo shelves. Found 3 boxes of ammo for a gun I no longer own. Tore down the ammo and salvaged Bullets, powder and primers. Brass went to the scrap bucket. Got the .300 BLKs loaded and got a good start on the 12 ga....

Just remember that any handgun must be shipped overnight. Long guns don't. That accounts for the much higher cost. But even so, that amount is much higher than it should be.

4895 or 4064 powder military duplication loads only for me. Been shootin' mine for years with no problems and don't anticipate any either.

Got the .38 specials done today. Tomorrow I'm going for the .45 acps. Then I'm heading for the .300 BLKs. When I finish with those, I've got a 5 gal. bucket full of 12 gauges waiting to be reloaded. After that, the 20 gauges are waiting. When those...

I mix HF red with a good quality yellow and end up with a decent orange. I have a toaster oven that holds a nice even 425. I bake them for 20 minutes. Never had any problems with my coating and they survive the smash test nicely. No leading and no...

Yesterday I cast and powder coated 350 260 gr. lrnfp bullets for the .45 Colt. This morning, I sized them and this afternoon I loaded 150 rounds with 3 different powders using differing charge weights so I can finally ladder test for the rifle....

I like my bull barreled .222 Rem. 700 BDL. At 100 yards you get change back from a dime with my 5 shot groups! None of my .223s will do that, not even my single shot! And the .222 loves cast as well.

I use a 150 gr. Loverin design with a gas check for my light .30-30 loads. Very accurate bullet. I haven't loaded that light, but I'll give it a try. I might also try the 240 gr boat tail that I cast for the .300 BLK. That should work well in a long...

jimb16 replied to a thread Sighting in a peep sight? in Leverguns
I shoot a lot of skeet. As a result, for quick shots out to 50 yards, I don't even bother with a rear sight. My cheek weld is consistent enough that using only the front sight, I can hit minute of soup bowl every shot. I use the tang sight for...

I've shot cast in more than 20 different carbines. I've used straight COWWs to hard alloys. Only one carbine caused any problems with cast and I believe it must have had a burr on the gas port. I never experienced any gas cylinder leading with any...
