You might look at the Great Western II's from EMF. They're made by Pietta, and are solid reproductions of the Colt SAA. My wife owns four of them, and shoots her two main guns in monthly SASS matches, plus big matches all over the west. She's put...

I purchased a used RCBS bench mount priming tool on an auction site that was missing critical parts. I called RCBS to buy the parts, and told the nice lady I'd just bought it used on the auction site, but she insisted that she wasn't going to let...

This part raises the locking lug. If things are not moving there might be some crud keeping it from going all the way. Might be a good idea to take it to a smith that knows 94s to see what the problem is. Many 94s have a headspace problem, if the...

I made a new ratchet several years back for an 1849. Machined out the part then bored out the back of the cylinder and soldered it in. Changed the timing by heating it up and turning it a bit. Worked fine.

That's not true. In talking to the reps in the RCBS booth at the SHOT Show several different years, they've consistently told me the vast majority of their products are made in the USA, with only the electronics made in China, since they couldn't...

Had one in several years back the the star on the rear of the cylinder was wore down. If yours works when pointing up, maybe the barrel to cylinder gap is to much allowing the cylinder to move forward. Also the original had a flat hand spring. VTI...

I was a very patient person before I attempted to make a quality set swage dies. I figure I used up more then half of all my patience on perfecting the point form die. It took me a long time, I recall it was a couple years with the point form dies...

I have rebarreled quite a few Marlins over the years. Most round barrels run about $500 depending on the barrel blank I use. My own 93 is in 38-55, a rebore I did when I built my rifling machine. The 38-55 is loaded to black powder pressures, quite...

RCBS has been doing this since before any of the others caught on to what good customer service does to promote your business. They were the first, and have always been pleasant to deal with. Hope this helps. Fred

I have a Midway heater under one of my Stars, and a Lyman under another, but the majority of them have Magma heaters under them. The Magma heaters are far superior to the others, and in my opinion are worth the extra money they may cost. I have...

This is a real problem when converting to 50 EX and sometimes with the 45-90. Chambers need to be polished to aid in feeding. Have not seen many problems with other calibers. Had one 40-65 that had feeding issues and it turned out the bolt had so...

I have one customer that I made five different caliber barrels for the same folding beretta shotgun. While I have stubbed a few barrels over the years, it's sometime just as easy to make a new lug and silver solder it to the barrel. One of the more...

When I started doing gunsmithing for a living I found out that there are two types of gunsmiths, one will make most parts that can't be found and the other is a parts changer. I saw the same thing when I was working as a mechanic, there were some...
