This thread needs a cat pic now. We have had normal winter here,a couple of feet of snow, -5 to -25 C. Except it has been pouring water lately, +5C right now. Quite a mess everywhere. It's not time for the spring yet. I think I'd like another...

Flush may be the correct way. I sprayed some Aqualube (Hi Tek sizing lube) and the wad went flush in. But like you said, the cushion "gives" a little when seating with more force. . But this looks right.

Yes they go deeper, I tried with my 20 gauge press. Thanks. The one to the right is finger pressure only.

No 410 experience here. But the Paradox 12 gauge mould came today: . Hot works for me again. The sprue cut isn't the prettiest but everything else is good.

I mixed a ton of alloy some 15 years ago, WW & monotype. Made big 10% and 30% ingots. It's pretty high antimony content with 4% tin. But it doesn't coat well. Slugs, yeah. A Svarog mould.

I had my alloy tested because coatings didn't stick,no zn but some niobium instead. And copper. It sizzles very little bubbles and very slowly but the alloy changes to much darker colour overnight. I use 30% HCL. My cast boolits look like chromed...

Yeah,I figured I have to learn how do it to be able to use an otherwise very good gun. I never sell questionable guns to re-circulation -like in this case I think someone did. The gun still looks like new.

I'm happy as well. This was my second full batch, I tried lower temps but ended way up. I did touch the frangible pin with 1200 paper a bit, maybe it did something? Anyway,a good nice pace. Why doesn't it smear the lead? Some serius heat here...

"Zveroboy" mould likes 850F and a fast pace. Sounds strange but works for me. There is no lead smearing around the sprue cutter or mold top, when the weird pin gets hot enough it releases easy. But if I wait ten seconds too long it sticks and...

I have the Svarog 20 "Lyman style", it's a very easy casting mould. I'd just like something a little heavier, even heavier than Lyman original 350 grain which I don't have.

I don't know about whacking... but yes,you need a "feel" for bending. Shooting like a rifle, beads aligned from a rest can reveal strange things. It took me some reading and talking to gunsmiths before I got the courage to bend a Benelli barrel....

I don't think Ausglock would claim copyright for the idea of sticking a probe into something to measure temp. My granny used to do this before Ausglock was born. . Even I wasn't born then.

Sort of success with Zveroboy HP version here. I made my usual "economy slugs" by re-filling a factory 1 oz trap round. I cut the petals, crimped the round and then screwed the slug on tight. 30 yards, standing, open sights M3 cyl bore. 1150 fps. ...

One more thing about cast iron and heat: Here is my kitchen stove. The grate under the burning wood is made of cast iron and it has worked for as long as I remember , 50+ years. Not even bent yet. The house was built in 1900.

Years ago I got a L'n'L for free from a friend who didn't like it and went with Dillon. Thanks again O.T.E. The first thing I did was lock the bushings. Those O-rings in the bushing system basically turn your good dies into Lees.

There are different versions of cast iron I guess. I have used cast iron pots to melt WW /scrap for 20 years. A couple of tons. On open flame, usually on a propane burner. And those burners are made of cast iron as well.
