I've been here, too. I was able to shoot quite a lot but there was this strange lead buildup. Took a while to figure it out. It was 458 Socom but the idea is the same. I was sizing too much.

40 grains of VV N120 for 425 grain plinker @ 1200 fps /4" barrel. Soft, slow recoil. VV N110 for anything full house. I have a NOE 340 PB in the mail, will start with N110 right away. EDIT: I use CCI 250 magnum rifle primers for cleaner brass...

Glucosamine here, too. I started it a couple of years ago because of shoulders / bow shooting. Helps a lot, most probably helps with wrists, too. Now I can shoot warm 500 S&W and 45-70 again, every week. Not crazy amounts but to keep the touch.

I've been practising like a madman to make sure I didn't get a flinch/fear/whatsoever shooting problem from the incident. All is going good,45-70 was breaking clays on the berm @ 75 m as usual with Hi Tek coated RCBS 325 @ 1900 fps.

That's an LBT mold, right? Nose looks very similar to my 480 grain Applegate mold which cycles in Marlins. Can you measure your mold? My bullets nose is approx. 0.388 wide and 0.340 long, measured from the crimp groove. .

I stumbled on this thread, searching for Redding Profile Crimp. I don't like pulling bullets with the hammer so I run the to-be-pulled rounds in a sizing die. The sized-down bullets can be picked with bare fingers then.

Redding Profile Crimp die might be worth trying. If it is as snug fit as their seater it will help with oversize rounds. As well as crimp good, too.

My foresight was reasonable,I thought I was given a working firearm to test. So did the shop, although they had never fired it. They thought it was ok. Instead being ok the Encore action violently opens up when it's being fired... the stock...

I took the gun back. We had some coffee and talk. I can keep the Karl Kaps scope "for indefinite testing period". Fair enough,it has my DNA now.

Yes it will melt it but keeping the temp steady may be tricky. I use a 1000 W ring and a cast iron pot to make my alloy mixes and small ingots for a small pot that I cast with. Cover it with aluminum foil to speed up melting. I melt ~ 40-50...

A light, practical 308 makes life easy, too. I tried a "new" scope (a s/h Karl Kaps 4x32 military) on my S&W M&P 10 and fired some groups and then lots of clays from 100 m , standing and bench. I wanted to get over my "scope bite" from...

Me? Yes,I had proper shooting glasses on. Because the action violently opened during firing, the stock fell from the rear bag and hit the table causing the scope hit higher than usual. Figure how an open rifle pivots backwards. I'm lucky it hit...

This is true. A round bowl needs different moves to properly shake and tumble, circular "swirl" only won't cover them boolits good. Having said that,my bowls are round. But if I was making large amounts I would change.

A good practise test is to put claybirds at 20-120 yards and shoot them fast in a row. Most people find it easier with a rifle. My closest moose shot has been ten yards,30-06 Norma oryx, big hole through lungs. The moose went half a mile, full of...
