My first rifle was a Toz-8,very much like the one posted here but a single shot. -77 that was. It came with "explosive" Russian varmint ammo, the bullets had a drop of mercury inside them... absolutely devastating and completely crazy. I sure...

Doesn't a longer barrel help with aging eyes? I think/feel that I can see an 8 3/8" front sight better than a 4". I use +1 glasses for reading. This revolver is very, very tight, like one solid piece. And only one minor, hard to see scratch. ...

If I was venturing into this, I would try heavy coated bullets. Starting with minimum loads of normal powders, not less. 300 WM has generally been quite accurate to me, almost everything shoots MOA @ 100. But I have no cast experience here. ...

I love 300WM and I love casting but I've never mixed those two. I use 300 WM for long range accuracy work and shoot 300-500 meters regularly. Easy with J-bullets and full power loads. Enter cast below 2000 fps as suggested: What kind of 300 WM...

. That's why I'm here. I don't NEED anything but I'm looking at a very little used, well kept S&W 586 AF 8 3/8 that wants to be fired. Enter a med/heavy mold for accuracy & Hi Tek coating. Keep them coming, thank you.

Thanks, this revolver is very accurate and fits me well. Very easy, relaxed shooting. I'm in good mood because I like accurate guns, that in turn makes me shoot better... I have been shooting a 4" S&W500 quite a bit lately,no other revolvers. At 50...

Standing, two hand grip,25 meters. No bench/bags grouping yet,it was raining and I had too much coffee. I have some nice accuracy work to do from bags. I want to do it outside in the open for light, not under a roof. We have a good bench at our...

If I ever get a hangfire I will stop shooting that ammo right away. I once got my T3 Tactical 300WM bolt stuck so hard,Sako had to remove the barrel to open and repair the rifle. We were test shooting a batch of new-to-be factory ammo, it was...

Now that sure is looking good. Congrats! What exactly did you ask Tom to do? I might like a similar mold from him but for a heavy 357 mag silhouette boolit. No lube groove either.

This was interesting. I'm 56 and started around 35. Don't know much yet - but I'm working on it. Discovering Hi Tek coating got me back into casting big time. And big boolits, that's where most of the fun is for me.

Very good. Gas check or not? I'm still amazed at RCBS 325 grn 45-70 @1900 fps,no gas check needed. 500 S&W 305 grn@1600 fps 3" barrel, no gas check plain base. Just Hi Tek. That 500 load is pretty high pressure...

I was learning to walk at that time. 8 3/8" feels very good right now,I'm getting back into revolvers... most probably because of Hi Tek bullet coating. Coating got me back to casting and throwing big boolits around, like 500,475,45-70,... 22"s...

Thanks a bunch, eveyone. I took the gun for testing,it worked normally and certain ammo showed accuracy potential, too. But I ended up driving back to the shop. I gave the Ruger back and grabbed this S&W 17-6 instead. I used to have a 617 so this...

My experience with Redding profile crimp and 500 S&W is the same. Redding 500 S&W dies are very tight and good for j-bullets. Oversize cast (501) is difficult, seater dies are shaving bullet coatings etc. So I use mostly RCBS dies for cast 500. ...

Lee collet crimp die works wonders. I shoot full power 500 S&W loads in a 4" gun using no-crimp-groove bullets. Lee collet crimper keeps my Hi Tek coated bullets from moving.
