I am hankering to do some smelting. I haven't done any for a couple years. I have 50 to 100 lbs of range scrap plus another 200+ lbs of unfired boolits and random fishin weights to melt. I'm just waiting for the mud to dry up in my smelting...

I'm not sure what pressure you are loading to, but if your 20:1 has been working good for you, Then you will probably want to mix about 6 lbs of your pure lead to 1 lb of linotype, that will bring the antimony down to about 2%, but tin will be well...

JonB_in_Glencoe replied to a thread Marlin or Henry in Leverguns
I quit the 44 leverguns, due to how Marlin and Henry make the barrel groove diameter and twist rate. If you can find a Marlin in 41 and can afford it, I'd buy it. I have one and love it. Last year I bought a Henry Big Boy Steel in 41. I like...

I no longer load 44 mag, but I did REALLY like HS-6 for mid level loads in 44 mag, back when I loaded for it. I've never tried it in the 500.

I suspected that the tiny manometer gauge I was using to check the output pressure of the regulator on my Gauntlet's air tank may have been faulty. That wasn't exactly correct. It was a case of the fat needle on that little gauge in conjunction...

I agree, "I think most of the wax around cheese is a Microcrystalline food grade low melt temp" I have saved some wax from a brand of Irish cheddar cheese, it had a pretty thick layer of wax. It's surely not hard like Carnuba Wax is. This...

Yep, this is what I would do. Generally you can both see (light colored area) and smell freezer burnt meat...the smell is more of a "stale" type smell, not a rotten smell. It's easy to trim it off.

I've heard about problems with "UPS Stores". I am lucky to have a UPS regional Hub in my small town, never had any major problems with them. Although one time, when shipping 5 bricks of 22lr ammo, I was asked how many rounds? Since I never had...

Zinc will make an oatmeal like slush but I never saw bubbles like that. I think you just did not get it hot enough. What are you using for a thermometer and can you really trust it?

Much hoop cheese still has the original wax covering. The current Baby Bell covering is different.

I'm glad that turned out to be a simple fix. I will warn you from my experience not to try a lighter main spring. You can polish the works and that will help a lot but leave the main spring as is.

It's my understanding that the wax used to be almost totally carnauba wax, but like everything else has been changed by the bean counters, to a plastic wax formula that works great for the cheese, but sucks as a lube. I saved over half a lb before...

I've grown Okra for a couple years, just put seeds (clemson spineless) directly into the garden. Last year, only a few germinated, so this year, I am going to start them in the house this, probablt in a week or two. I only have a few seeds...

I use a 30 caliber suppressor with an adapter on my 223 and it works real well but, I just thought I'd ask; have you ever considered buying and using one of the latest offerings of PCP air rifles? Some of them come integrally suppressed already...
