If it shot good I would. I make my "hunting boolets" with a soft nose of lead, and then a harder alloy for the rest of the slug. I buy pellets for pellet rifles, drop about 4 in the hot mold to make the soft nose. Two piece boolit. Do a...

Fisher Since you're hunting with the rifle/cartridge in question and considering smokeless powder loads I would suggest the use of a GC'd bullet. You will get better accuracy at the higher end velocity you've mentioned. I've done a bit of long...

Keep in mind with "listed" +P loads that the SAAMI MAP for standard 38 SPL is 17,000 psi. The SAAMI MAP for 38 SPL +P is 20,000 psi. Neither MAP psi figure means that all standard 38 SPL loads produce 17,000 psi and all +P loads produce 20,000...

Amen to that. Did the same thing with a table saw when I was younger. Split my left index finger down to the first knuckle. Like you say, I learned about the importance of a push block. God's best to you as you heal and mend.

Fisher If you want to push that Postel bullet 1500 - 1600 fps with smokeless powder and stay within 29,000 psi I suggest Lyman #2 alloy, a 93/3/3 alloy or at the very least a 16-1 alloy. I also suggest you try a smokeless powder such as 4895 or...

That sure is a classic 38 SPL bullet! Your velocities are very similar to mine with Unique under 158 - 160 gr cast bullets. I've used 5.5 gr Unique under the 358477 and 358156 as my standard 38 SPL +P load to duplicate the Winchester and Federal...

That's what I use also or Dillon spray lube. I have also used the OneShot lube and it works fine also. I tumble the lubed/sized cases in sawdust for 20 - 30 minutes to remove the lube then finish loading on a Dillon SDB.
