clodhopper replied to a thread Pinch Die in Swaging
A pinch die trims jackets, when used right makes them uninform length. The die pinches the brass between upper and lower parts. Set to tight wrecks the pinch edge, set to loose, does not pinch the jacket off.

The difference is .005 inches. If you can get a .318 bullet size die run a few through and see how they shoot. Don't forget to use some lube! If you do go to cast, you might need that .318 size die anyway.

Best is in the eyes of the beholder. 17s hardly move the quadrants, the center gives a little swing. It works well with 25 grain pellets @ 935 FPS.

The Sheridan's are fine rifles. I recently bought two from an estate, shot them a little bit. But the darkside pulled me back in. Sold one, and gave the other to my brother. The EDgun, 25 cal, 60 shots per 250 bar fill, 25 grain pellets at...

Hitting things in the 250 yard range with air guns will require knowing the distance and having a pretty good idea of your trajectory. Sure, good groups can be shot but just a little wind will make 3" groups at 250 yards pretty rare. There are...

clodhopper replied to a thread Suggest an air rifle? in AirGuns
It might be a good start in PCP. Pre Charged Pneumatic, or "The Dark Side" once you crossover, springers and pumpers have little appeal. Some of us are getting to the age where cocking a springer many times causes lasting discomfort in joints...

Here's something to think about. https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=175743.0 My take on the air gun world: You can have whole closet full of inexpensive air guns. They can leak. Have poor triggers. Difficult to shoot either...

Don't know if it's true or not. But 'urban legend" was more about getting bullets stuck in the barrel. Black powder is corrosive, copper is reactive. I think many .25-20s have been shot with jacketed bullets after having been powered by black...
