Not really a surprise about the recoil. You have 308 to 30-06 type energy going downrange from a 6.5-7 pound rifle. It is going to let you know you were shooting a serious gun sooner or later.

For a plinking load, it is hard to beat the Keith style SWC boolits in any weight from 150 to 170 grains. They are consistently accurate and have been a staple for a lot of years. The Lyman 358311 and any 158 grain flat round nose boolit will also...

Just out of curiosity, what gun will you be using it in and what is the purpose of the load? One of those boolits is designed for the 45ACP, the other for the 45LC.

According to the Wolff gunsprings site, the factory spring is 23lb. Oddly enough, they don't sell a factory standard spring for that gun. Lots of others both heavier and lighter.

I went back to that LGS today and looked at the 10mm XD pistols they had. They had both the 4.5 inch and the 5.25 inch in the case. Anybody near Davenport Iowa that wants one, they are available.

Don't worry about it. The case opens up during firing and allows the boolit to pass no problem. The case just springs back after the pressure is gone. After much testing, I found that my 38special/357 mag revolvers liked a good, heavy crimp. It...

The as dropped size varies a bit depending on the individual mold and your alloy. I hate to say it but Lee isn't as consistent as some of the other mold makers. When you get a good one you need to keep it ad take care of it. Mine drops right at...

The 231 powder that you already have will give you 1100 fps and it meters consistently. Why not just use that powder. I guarantee you will be able to tell the difference between an 1100fps load and a 850 fps load.

I like that inset press idea. I have never thought of that. It should work as you suggest. What I did was build mine extra heavy so the bench would not move. It still wiggles slightly but it doesn't cause a problem.

I guess I'm just lucky. I haven't done that yet.I still have my original Chrony. I have a couple of others because the first one was difficult to make work but none of them have been shot.

Here is a link to the Hodgdon reloading data site. There is data there for Hodgdon, Winchester, and IMR powders in most calibers. There is data there for 158 grain cast boolits. It works fine with that boolit. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/

Also interesting that at the bottom of the notes Keith recommends 18 gr with 20 maximum. We should never assume the accuracy of someone else powder measure.

Try AA5, power pistol or another powder. Many of us know Uniques quirks and love it anyway. Surprisingly for benchrest shooters, the amount of powder in the case is one of their least concerning variables. Often the 2%-3% swings Unique can have...

What many found in the 90's was that moly was hydroscopic or a water attractant. It would be less of a concern in a pistol barrel but a bigger on for rust in a rifle barrel. It was slicker than most lubes so with the lessened friction, velocities...

In the past gas water heaters were failing due to corrosion and calcifying. In the future the electronic failures will shorten the life while the tanks are still solid. I live in a hard water areas but have done so since the 70's. You can get a...

I saw one on the shelf yesterday at a local gun store. I was looking for a different pistol but a close relative of it. I might have gone for it but I am not set up for 10mm. I ended up finding an XDM 45 competition with 5.25 barrel. Will be...
