FWIW, I really like 473AA, especially in the .44 magnum!

I drove up the mountain to see the fine logging job going on. Well over a hundred loads of logs sitting on the decks ready to be hauled. Fire danger is now greatly reduced, hope they finish the section soon. Thought about burning a pile of old...

I'm betting it's a 50-70, which is a good thing in my opinion. I do have a friend who has converted many old movie guns with bad barrels to .50-70.

Another vote for the Lee 158-RF. Also works well in pistols for me. Semi wadcutters don't feed well in my Rossi.

I usually loaded mine down to .45-70 levels. With Rugers, you may want to check if it was a model where the bolt locks when on safety, or not. I had a .338 WM that didn't, and found when in rough brushy terrain, the bolt could be pulled open...

A few years ago, I had already shot smoothbore for score, and for fun went with a group of friends to shoot the course again. Being a bit of a smart ***, I shot the course left handed, and still beat the others scores! They are still whining about...

I just take any scrap wood, and rough one out when needed. As we know, files and rasps aren't cheap. The ones I use most cost from $50-70 each. I also use Bogg's for sharpening.

If it's like one company I worked for, it would consist of inserting the barrel into a catch trap, and pulling the trigger.

I'd mentioned that a while back, warning those along the Missouri River to be prepared with sandbags. There is a LOT of snow in the mountains.

For those who leave a vent pick in while loading, if they will just give the gun a couple light slaps, or bounce it lightly on the ground a couple times to settle the powder properly, that is unnecessary, and gets the powder as close to the vent as...

Most experienced flintlock shooters will not use lead wrapped flint. Several makers will not warranty their locks if it is used. I am one builder who won't warranty a gun that the owner uses them.

I went west from Kalispell yesterday for a shoot. The snow is going away in my area, but I was amazed at how much snow is still on the ground just a little way west. And no one is giving Donald Trump any credit for ending global warming!

This current gun is right on 8.5#. I would estimate the small profile barrel to make into a rifle of around 7 - 7.5#.

For me Mike, I have to limit my recoil due to some neck surgery I had a few years back. downloading that JDJ cartridge to recoil levels I can handle really isn't worth going past the 357-44B&D levels in a light single-shot gun. Bruce

I could have sworn someone on this site had been working on a 30 caliber wildcat built of a 357 Magnum case that they were calling a Bobcat. If you run a 300BLK sizer die over a 357 Magnum case you probably would come up with a nice looking...
