Finding suitable reamers could be a problem. I do have one or two taper reamers I should check out. If I only needed to go in a short distance I would just use a boring tool ground for the purpose. It is still a consideration to cut the...

It looks like gunmakr isn't coming back. But on his question, does it matter if there is unburned powder? Or partially burned powder. My uncle was an armorer in WWII in Africa and he told me how after a machinegun shoot with 50 Brownings, they...

I've seen one in action. Accurate and deadly - until the wind blows. But very flat shooting within reasonable range.

I am wanting to fire-lap some 22's. I have found that 60gr sub-sonics are perfect for the job. Apart from not having any fine grit, I was scared to put more than polishing compound through the bores. It did seem to clean them up. 22's are small...

I have a Remington 511 Score Master that I picked up cheaply a long time ago. One day a few years ago O got to firing it and it shot rather poorly. Now these rifles are supposed to be pretty accurate. Anyway, I put it away and only got to have...

Thanks for that, 1066. mf69 set me to thinking. Looking at the geometry of that Voere magazine, it might be simpler to make it in four parts with the main body made from fiber glass. The two sides with the lips could be made from steel...

Here is my glue on scope rail with the height extender block I made. The dovetail fit was pretty tight as I recall. I may have just left them as a press in fit but suspect I may have used epoxy for good measure. If I decide to pass my...

I glued scope base rails on my 512. Some might find a scope too high but I made a raising piece to make mine even higher. Of course low mounts can be had but I just like my scope high. I'll see if I can get photo of it. I am moving away from...

Hah! Exactly. So there is the challenge aspect. Yes, I'm in New Zealand. Which means I can buy a magazine from overseas (but not the US). The UK source is asking 54. For that I can buy a complete rifle with scope. I'm a retiree so I need...

That looks like what I would expect it to be. Pretty much the shape of the mag well. It's simple enough but not so simple to bend the sheet into shape. Then follow with heat treatment. I could make a former for that. The trick would be to...

More specifically, for a 22. I have three 22's missing their magazines. One I have a sample magazine for. Even the ones I have five round magazines for need ten round mags. But let's start with a Voere magazine. I have no sample. This rifle...

NZ$146 is about US$98-99. On one hand it's a fair price for an old rifle while on the other, it's a bargain for a gem. If it shoots laser beams then it would be an absolute bargain, if it shoots mediocre then not so much. So we'll see. I'm going...

I got it! Apparently I wanted it more than the other guy and set my autobid higher than his. Quite a bit higher actually so I got it at probably the right value @ NZ$146 - or was it worth more? Maybe, maybe not. I would have paid up NZ$200. ...

I must confess that I stopped using Varget simply because it is visually indistinguishable from H4350 which I use for my hunting load in my No4 two-groove. Very accurate 180gr load. I'm going back to using Varget because I know it works so well...

It's interesting how powders that won't burn fully at lower pressures in larger cases will burn just fine in smaller cases at even lower pressure. Just have a look at 30-30 load data. Using bulk fillers has the same effect but does raise pressure.

Would you believe it even worked in my hornet? Admittedly, I did cheat a little. I duplexed it with H4227. Zero neck tension and 50gr bullet. It was accurate and pretty fast. How fast I don't know but it was flat shooting and worked well on...

From what I can gather, Varget has a fast ignition and medium burn rate. Hodgdon say it is easy igniting which supports that. I would imagine this translates into consistent ignition. Anyway, I've had good results with it.
