Any thoughts on why the red dot would cause pressure issues? Apart from curiosity, this might translate into something I should be mindful of if and when I get to play with the Brit. You may remember I once used 4227 as a kicker under some...

I've been interested in the 221 ever since a got my hornet and found the chamber oversize and rough (presumably from cleaning out rust damage). It would fit the action. A curious observation I made after my brand new unused die set disappeared...

It puzzles me that any gun maker would not have a deflector head at the back of the bolt. Blow backs do happen and with 22's it always blows into the shooters eyes! It's a basic design flaw. I am reminded to get a pair of shooting glasses.

I reduced the case capacity of one 303 Brit case using epoxy putty and drilling out the center. I left a seating shoulder at the base of the neck. It worked fine with low pressure loads but when I upped the pressure, the epoxy began to erode. I...

The single stage triggers on older Lee Enfields can be swapped out for SMLE 2-stage triggers. A much safer option.

Thanks for the thumbs up, Dan. Bill, I've done most of my testing into a 'test tube' so depending on velocity, I catch the patch fragments. With heavier loading and I find very little patch remnants. The catch medium is rubber tyre grounds...

Years ago I wanted to try zinc boolits for my Brit. The idea being that it needs a decent size boolit so zinc being lighter and stronger would give me fit, strength and high velocity. Well, I never got that far so it's great seeing someone...

The oil can be removed by soaking with paint thinners or boiling in water with dishwashing liquid. I've done both and both worked but it takes a while for wet wood to dry out and return to normal dimensions. Thinners takes time with repeated wiping...

303Guy replied to a thread Lil Gun in Canister & Surplus Powder
I use Lil'Gun in my hornet and it does heat the barrel (and the suppressor). I do compress the charge (a lot). It makes my hornet into a super hornet using R-P cases in my oversize chamber. A 55gr bullet at 2740 fps is not too shabby for a...

Nothing wrong with original iron sights. I'm leaning back toward irons. I've achieved MOA at 110 yds with old style Martini Henry sights - equivalent to the half inch at 50 yds.
