I found that target to work quite well. There is enough white to clearly see the front post. I didn't mention that I am now shooting with pinhole glasses. They're not perfect but one can find a hole that aligns well enough to focus the notch (or...

It melts. It doesn't always melt but sometimes it does. I have collected the melted beads from my catcher. That said, it does take the right conditions to melt it. I've only been able to melt it into round beads but usually it just blows out as...

This it what it really looked like. And it was only 25m. On a serious note, it does seem strange to me that at least half the rounds went into a neat cluster (not sure if that bottom left is one boolit or two in the same hole). I fired ten...

If you decide to try the Universal, don't be shy of lower velocities. A 16 twist hornet will stabilize heavier than one might expect. That mold is a 44gr and not too long I would think so should be fine at lower speeds. One way of finding out.

It's only the age of the first lot that would give me concern. How long will the mix last until used up? On the other hand, I've just bought and found to be fine, a batch of 1967 Greek 303 Brit ammo. That's closer to fifty three years old.

Yup, casual shooting fun. :Fire: You make me think of an outing once on a farm. We had randomly set up beer cans on a mound some 50 or more yds away. My niece decided it was more fun to shoot the beer cans on the bottom through the hole on top. ...

That's US$ which in NZ$ would be something in the region of $400. For a nice 510? If I had the money to spare, I would pay that, over priced or not. Looking at my 510, complete with wrong rear sight and broken front sight, the stock seems to be a...

Exactly right. I might be able to answer that one - those of us on the fence are looking for reasons to be drawn in and smell the fumes. What's of significance to me in this thread is the presentation of both sides of the fence with...

It would be interesting to see the experiment repeated using a powder positioner like Dacron or a filler like kapok as Argie suggests.

While Clays, Clay Dot and Red Dot are in the same burn-rate category, Clays has a very fast initial burn rate, faster than Red Dot. Yet the mean burn rate is about the same. So from that one can see that mixing those two powders could cause...

Just a question on top eject - does it not make the action more symmetrical? As in vibration harmonics symmetrical, which might affect accuracy? Anyway, I prefer a side eject, not that I have a lever gun or ever will. I still like them though.
