I don't powder coat - yet. I am under the impression that powder coating would work for me in place of paper patching. I need to fatten the boolits I have. Paper patching for range shooting isn't all that appealing but for field use it is. So,...

Thanks for showing that, 1066. Very interesting. I need to learn about barrel tuning. I've just started playing around with barrel damping (as in bedding). This after seeing how one rifle shoots to such different points with different ammo. If...

Very impressive! I don't know anyone with a 3-D printer but I am pretty handy with a file and a hammer. Well, I do have a lathe and I do have a somewhat crude milling arrangement that with lots of care, I could produce something...

While Clays, Clay Dot and Red Dot are in the same burn-rate category, Clays has a very fast initial burn rate, faster than Red Dot. Yet the mean burn rate is about the same. So from that one can see that mixing those two powders could cause...

Found another Aguila target. Subsonic HP 25m open sights. I don't think I can aim better than that. There's another shot aimed at the wrong target below this one that would lie within this group. For some reason I went and bought more...

I have some Aguila Super Extra 40gr RN. I went for them because of the round nose, thinking that for target RN can only be better than or equal to HP. They are 'standard velocity' which is fine as sometimes standard velocity is subsonic. ...

Just a question on top eject - does it not make the action more symmetrical? As in vibration harmonics symmetrical, which might affect accuracy? Anyway, I prefer a side eject, not that I have a lever gun or ever will. I still like them though.

I might be a little bit older than 10. [smilie=1: I luckily found some old targets, as water damaged as they were they gave me some useful information. And they were fun to find. I do like to scan them so I can view them at will and in their...

Thanks for the thought, OS OK. I've had encouraging results with Aguila too. Fiocchi seems to be in the running too. My problem of course is that I cannot say whether it was my aiming, the rifle or the ammo but when I shoot two ammos and one...

This was at only 25m but also consider open sights and less than brand new eyes. That's ten shots.

I've noticed from recovered boolits that some bores do wipe the copper wash off. I took that to mean the bores needed a cleaning and polishing. I should capture some fired copper washed boolits and see if the copper is still being wiped off. Some...

Even Aguila Supermaximums weren't too bad and consider those are 30gr hollow nose doing 1700 fps Again, the outlier was my first shot. This group does not call for further testing with this ammo but should be good for rabbit hunting.

I had the 510 out at the range again yesterday. I decided not to change anything just yet but I did place a card under the chamber in an attempt to 'stiffen' the bedding. It beds on the fore-end as designed it seems. I didn't do too much testing...

Yup. I quite agree. I didn't think this through. Thing is, this particular rifle doesn't shoot cast very well but it has the suppressor that I need (or semi-suppressor). At this point, I must just decide on a powder charge, load up a few test...

Thanks, longbow. I've had a look at Hodgdon's load data. Maybe I should accept a higher noise level and try H4198. Anyway, I might just load up three sets for range testing and decide from there. The thought has occurred to me that 15 grs TB...
