Nice rifle - what else can I say? I could live with one of those. I like the cartridge it fires too.

I found that casting .224 was just tad more difficult .... [smilie=1: Maybe it's just my mold or maybe it's me but I can't cast them worth a ****. [smilie=b: Well, I did cast some and I still have them but they are all defective in some way...

Apparently you can make cases out of 45/70 brass.

Gas cutting on the trailing edge without actually cutting the edge corner and also directly behind the rifling impression? I would say that is not gas erosion. It looks to me like the boolit did not enter the bore straight and that portion of the...

I've shot the RCBS 55gr boolit in my 16 twist hornet and while not super accurate, all boolits made round holes. That boolit has a flat nose so maybe that helps. Then again, that same rifle shoots Hornady 62gr spire point flat bases with scary...

My hornet has a large chamber, the result of reaming out rust damage I think. To avoid sizing the large fired neck, I use a paper cup arrangement for seating bullets. I then 'glue' the seated bullets in with my melted 'waxy-lube'. I don't own a...

There is a paper thin enough to patch a .224 boolit that might fit a fired neck without sizing either boolit or neck and that is baking paper (or vellum). Tough stuff. It measures 0.05mm/.002" so a double wrap would increase the diameter to .232...

Just one small detail about fire-lapping with lead boolits - don't roll the boolit in the lapping compound until after seating the boolit. Well, Ok so I was seating a fat boolit into an unsized case neck, the idea being to fill those grooves. ...

That bore looks better than my 22 hornet. That hornet is scary accurate using Lil'Gun and a paper towel seating cup soaked in molten waxy-lube in an unsized neck. Zero copper fouling. I do use a .224 55gr bullet in the .223 groove. I've already...

Mine was super accurate with 87 gr bullets when I had a mini suppressor/muzzle break on it.

If the bore condition is consistent right up to the muzzle then you should be able to get it to shoot. Your bore is way better than my Lee Enfield bore yet I got mine to shoot but with paper patching. I have fired plain cast through it but...
