Welcome Cast10, good to have you join us. Lyman #2 is a great alloy, but I have to agree with others about it being a little more on the expensive side. Another term to beware of is hard cast. Harder, is not always better. Seeing as you will be...

I'm in the same region as Lightman, 200 miles to the West in Oklahoma. My shop is climate controlled, lucky me on that one. I prefer to get as much of my casting done as possible during cooler times of the year. I would say between October to May. I...

Mozeppa, glad you were able to get help in time. Getting older ain't easy, that just never warned us it would be like this. I've had a few stents and see my cardiologist next week. I'm just thankful for modern medicine and the fact technology has...

I did the same as reslotcar and boiled my two Stars. The lube all floated to the top. Just a simple skimming of the surface to get rid of the old lube and they came out nice and clean. If anything, I'd lean toward the side of caution and see if the...

I have both a Lyman #452423, and the NOE clone. They Lyman in a 2 cavity I purchased roughly 30 years ago. And the NOE in a 4 cavity solid I bought and have not used as of yet. It's a heck of a boolit, no doubt. Now I am wondering. Is the NOE...

A few years back I purchased 3K of bulk 9mm brass. I decided to sort them out by head stamp. Once sorted, I was looking at the one can I had marked 'Various' and noticed the ring inside of the case. As luck would have it, a thread had popped up here...

I have a miha NLG mold for 140gr .357 HP's and the bullets fall out STOS. No jiggling and I can cast faster with it.

I thought about shooting light boolits but I have a 1894C in 357 mag to fart around with. I loaded the 200 gr. SAECO for an all around load and it does everything I want it to. In fact I'll probably remelt the 250's that I had cast and sell that...

A gallon of E-85 gasoline cleaned up a varnished fuel tank on an old truck my son bought. It's a bit ironic that ethanol in gas causes problems but it did a great job of dissolving the crud when straight gas and petroleum solvents didn't work.

Jeff made me my 8 bore mold for a percussion single barrel. The recoil is not sharp but rather just keeps on coming back.

I use a similar set, the only difference is that I use a 35 Rem. seater I got off of E-bay for $10.00. I get 1/2" accuracy at 50 yds and cannot justify paying $125.00 for a "real" set of dies.

My local gun club shut down over 15 years ago, a sad day indeed. I spent many hours there over the course of the 20+ years it was in operation. How much time I would spend on the range on any given day, depended on my needs. I worked a rotating...

I've only owned one RV in my life. That was 20 years ago and I can't even remember the brand, but definitely an older model. I bought it used on the cheap. It served it's purpose for my needs for a few years, deer season's. Other than that, one trip...

I've had better luck and accuracy making hot melt slugs by seating the wad in the charged case and alternating hotmelt cement and lead shot. The wad does not release and stays with the slug until impact like a Brenneke.

I make my own wads from sheets of felt from Duro-Felt and a mixture of 60/40 beeswax/lard. I melt the mix and pour it onto the felt, then place in a warm oven so that the felt is saturated with the lube. I let it cool off and punch out the wads. ...
