    I wonder how much spring-back there is with those FMJ? You might want a undersized 30 cal sizer die...maybe .307? I'd use a swaging lube, like Lanolin thinned with s bit of neatsfoot oil.

    I save handles from broken garden implements like shovels hoes rakes axes and such, they usually are a dense wood and many times have a grain that looks like White Oak. I use these salvaged wood handles for many things that need a wood handle.

    Do you have a thermometer? It'd be nice to know what Temp your alloy was when problems arose. Because you can cast with alloy with small amounts of zinc, I have done it, you just need to turn up the heat....
