Thanks for that info. I fluxed with pine rosin after adding the wire. Between stirring and flame I cut down on the oxidation and increased the surface temp of the melt. I make my own flux for soldering electrical parts from pine rosin.

A Lortone 3A rock tumbler is really quiet. Unless your standing beside it you won't hear it. I tumble 50 45acp cases in about 2-3 hours. My portable shooting bench is 2.5'x4' and has folding metal legs I scavenged. The top is a doubled piece of 3/4"...

Yeah, dreary today but the rain starts again this evening and lasts through till tomorrow evening. Forecast calls for a couple inches in the triangle. We had 4.5" the past couple days.

Keep your temp 450-500. A cast iron pot will hold the heat. A turkey fryer will allow the heat to lap up the sides. A wind shield will even the temp and allow the heat to flow up the sides. You can get the melt too hot and it will go through color...

You'll come out ahead paying the $10. Unless he finds somebody else that will. That's 200lbs for free or 3.333... cents/ lb. You'd still have to pay about 2 cents/lb. out of pocket for the lp gas to make his ingots.

That looks like a commercial size cup warmer. They usually get stuff warm but not so high that you can't touch it. You need something that's CAPABLE of 400degF and is adjustable.
