Raised like a gypsy, following the thoroughbred race horse circuit , father, grandfather, GGF, GGGR, were farriers-blacksmiths. My father was small enough to ride, as a jockey but relied on his trade as a thoroughbred farrier to raise his family. I was 18 when I passed the test for master farrier by the now defunct union, that was in effect in 1965.
