I guess I differ some with some others - I try to keep a fairly full pot when I cast, and return the sprues as soon as they are knocked off. I believe that minimizes temperature fluctuations, and also keeps a fairly constant head-pressure. Cast the...

Echo replied to a thread cast bullet for .380? in Cast Boolits
I have reloaded for a friend's Sig-Sauer 380 (SWEET gun!) using the Lyman -242 boolit. Worked great once I got the COL right - no FTF's, no stovepipes, and hit what we aimed at. (She told me she had it, and I asked her "Nickle or blued?", and she...

Reminds me of the time I bought a furnace and some solder snippets from an old rummy gunsmith/shop proprietor. Good thing I checked the snippets (about 4-5 lbs worth). Found 5 SP primers - if I had dumped the whole box in the furnace, I guess the...

Cast some 358156's for a loan officer of my acquaintance - sized & loobed, but had to be careful to really squeeze the handles, else the blocks sprung apart, to the extent that I would get fins on the boolits. THOSE were the obvious ones - the ones...

DJ, I like to keep my SAECO 10-pounder full, so I set an ingot on the rim, and as the level goes down drop it in and replace it with another. With the mass of lead in the pot, and the ingot being warmed on the rim, temp doesn't drop too much. And I...

My wife went on dialysis when we got back from a London trip in 2001. Started hemo-dialysis, then shifted to peritoneal. We found the peritoneal to be less confining, even though it had to be done 4 times daily. We did it in the car, we did it in...

When I wrap stuff to go by USPS, I always put a Return Address label on the inner wrapping - in case to vinyl-tape wrapped box/envelope breaks open (?) and the stuff inside is loose, without the packaging. I've had (a couple of times) FRE's...

I would go with the -041 - folks have had good luck with it forever, and not just in lever-actions. See if you can find one on eBay - I am very leery of buying a new Lyman mold, as I believe their QC sucks - others disagree, but I stand by my stand....

I did the same thing almost 60 years ago, in Germany. We were stationed @ Bitburg AB, and my family & I took up residence in a little farming village several miles north of the base, on the third floor of a farm house. One day the farmer came up and...

Echo replied to a thread Best mold for 35 Whelen in Cast Boolits
Lyman 358315 and RCBS 35-200 are almost dead ringers (RCBS is FN, Lyman is R), and produce 208-9 gr boolits that shoot up a storm for me.

Echo replied to a thread Advice on Lyman molds in Cast Boolits
I have several Lyman molds, but have had most of them for decades. I strongly recommend NOT buying a NEW Lyman mold of any persuasion. I bought one on eBay, it cast small, I sent it back to Lyman for re-cutting, and they returned it saying they were...

One of the most endearing sights in the world is the vision of a naked good-looking woman leaving the bedroom to make breakfast. Bolivar Shagnasty (I believe that Lazarus Long also said it, but I can't find any record of it.)
