BT: Where have you been? I asked that question early on in this thread. There are some good deals on Mossbergs with 3 1/2" chambers. I think 535's though. Nonetheless, the jump to rifling is the same which was the question... how is slug...

Nice shooting Gp! Looking good! best group or not that is a bragging group. Problem is now you have to do it again! I just posted on another thread that so far I've done better with the Lee 1 oz. than 7/8 oz. which is opposite to what most people...

My Lee 1 oz. slugs as cast are doing okay in Winchester wads. Sized down then paper patched up they do quite well to 50 yards though still need to do more testing. I think they have too much taper to them as cast. Far more than wad petals. Same...

Yeah I think I paid $15.00 Canadian for 25 last time and that was a few years ago. Regardless, too much for target or practice. If anyone is wondering though I got sub 6" groups at 100 yards from my Browning BPS by the time I finished the box. They...

waksupi replied to a thread case sizing lube in Cast Boolits
I dump the cases in a container, get a few drops of Ballistol on my fingers, and run my fingers through the container. Does a good job of lubing. For necks, I have a small container of moly, and dip about every third case mouth in it. That leaves...

Where did you see them? I was under the impression that the Thug Slug was the improved version. I have not tried Thug Slugs but have been meaning to order some. I do like the AQ wad though ~ no cushion leg to distort... like Brenneke Classic. ...

Randy... I have the same keychain! 16 ga. I think but the slug is made out of zinc (I think). Pretty sure it isn't lead. My belief is that slugs should be sized to about 0.735" so they fit pretty much any normal factory gun but of course they...

My possibles bag is made from blanket material. All my shooting bags are leather. The Metis and Ute did wool shooting bags, and there are examples from a few other tribes. Whites generally used a bark tanned leather.

Randy the reason I like the Brenneke Classic is because of the wad stack ~ hard felt like material with plastic washers on either side. Nothing there to distort. I've seen the Gualandi wads crush somewhat off center which I think is due to the long...

What Hickory said! Who knows what powder the factory uses and if and when they change powders. Seems like a lot of work to open hulls to dump powder unless you plan to just cut them off to get the powder. I'd say not worth it even if you knew...

Gray Fox: I have been leaning toward the Stoeger 12 ga. Supreme Coachgun if I go new. If I can find a decent used Stoeger coachgun or full length (I can cut barrels down to 20") I'd likely buy it and try it. They aren't too pricey. I like side...

I have some of those Russian slugs on hand now. KrakenFan69 sent me 50 which was very nice of him. I tested some last spring but have not been to the range for some time due to very dry (and on fire) forest surrounding us. So far accuracy has not...

longbow replied to a thread Load Data in Casting for Shotguns
I tried using card wads for slug loads a couple of years ago. Not real successful! I had a bunch of shotcups I'd cut gas seal off and bags of nitro card wads so thought I'd try some wad slugs using the shotcups on a card wad column. I put two 12...

Lapping it out by 0.005" should be doable but I'm with MT Gianni, I'd try thicker patch material. If you want to try lapping, I'd do 1/2 at a time in a drill press turning slowly and with little force then put the mould haves together and finish...

My revolver and rifle prefer different loads. You can shoot the same load in both, but working up what works best for each gun is the best route.

That's a gawdawful countersink he cut for the vent liner. You get what you pay for! The general opinion of most other builders is, Jackie can take $700 worth of parts, and make you a fine $300 gun.
