The first tool shop I worked in the boss had a shaper with a four speed truck transmission he'd mounted next to it to generate the speeds. He had modified it from a line shaft drive. Worked quite well. I spent a lot of time making parts on that one.

I have dies from just about all the manufacturers, including Lee. Can't tell whether a shell loaded in a Lee die is any different than the rest. Have four 223 rifles we shoot with ammo made in Lee dies. They are all reliably sub MOA.

We love 'em. Living in the woods, the whole family has one each. Never had trouble getting them to shoot to the sights. Rat shot in the first two holes, followed by 4 std. velocity target solids.

If you are using black, use a .450 of the correct weight for the original cartridge (was it a #2 Musket?) and 16lb paper. 3/16" lube cookie. It will obturate. If you're using some other propellant, I can't help.

I had a B/A 30/30 I shot unlimited silhouette with for a while. It would put five RCBS 30-180s into 4 1/2" at 200M, the rams were not too safe. Oh, to be able to see sights that good again! I don't think I ever soiled it with a filthy j-word.

I am looking to do a little trading: I have these expander plugs (plugs only, no chamber) 224(2), 243, 257(2), 280(2), 308(2), 358(2, one missing lock ring) would trade any 3 for a 321 expander plug. Also have - an extra universal decapping...

For many years I hunted squirrels with a .25 caliber flintlock. A small handful of balls dumped in my hunting bag and a small powder horn of 3F would last all season. I had a really good dog, so we would get quite a few. The balls were #4 buckshot...

Some of the 19th century English ammunition companies produced ammunition like this, with a ball seated deeply on a reduced load of black powder. The case would be crimped right above the ball. I have seen examples in .360 x 2 1/4" BPE.
