Yes but in the above pictured 85, the peep sight is mounted on the side of the reciever thus putting the peep rite on the recievers top and leaving the wrist area free of mounts such as Lymans or Marples tang sights. I like this Williams style as...

I totally agree with the sentiment concerning the 45-70 cartridge. Also the first JapChester 1885 i got i fell in love head over heels with the general hiwall feel. Some day i will have a genuine original hiwall rifle to play with. Till then i,...

Kev, use the drill/file to reduce your loaded case necks INSTEAD of running them back in the size die. May be what is happening is by re running them up the size die is you are inadvertantly sizing your .410 back to too small of a boolit by doing...

I also get caught up in the "SCOPE ERA" of thinking about accuracy. Fact is that as sighting devices improved so did the expectation of our firearms. So WHAT you ask does this have to do with volume versus weight when loading black powder?...

That ought to harm anything that gets hit by it. It'll probably go lengthwise through an elk or most anything else, so there's no need for more speed. I am surprised at how fast you are able to get it to go in that straightwall case, but then again...

If the bore isn't too far gone I'd just get a handful of those rimfire adapter cases that use a .22 blank, a bullet mould (could be a round ball) and a can of black powder and enjoy it for what it is. That way no money spent and you get to use your...

Yes, check it out first before you buy. I have some 15# printer paper that works really well for PP, and some 20# that is too thick to be useful. You don't want to end up with boxes of stuff that won't work. If you can get one sheet you can wrap...

I don't like using powder that fast for the kicker. Something in the range of 4227, lil gun, 2400, etc is smoother and safer. Usually 5 gr. Or so is plenty. You just want to get the main charge actually burning.

Guess what i intended saying is the slight rub with a very lite abrasive , thereby dulling that gosh awful shiny surface and oiling it back to a nice rubbed look is a perfect solution to your conundrum. I heartily recommend this over stripping the...

Well i gotta say that the bare wood thing is a concern in the unseen areas. I figured out the slight sanded look a long time ago when i got a Browning 22 lever gun on the cheap and hating that flashy finish, i took a used SOS pad to it and after...

You'll have to duplex all those to get much out of them in the cartridges listed. The loads are simple, a few grains of kicker powder and as much of the slow stuff you can get in the case, tightly compressed.

They're both going to need 5/16" rods since the next size up is 3/8". Unless you could find a metric size between the two.

Yes, the paper sticks out. How much depends on how your chamber is cut. It needs to fill the throat and start engaging the rifling when the action is closed. I'll try to remember to get some pictures next time I load some up. But yours will be...

I just find 32s exceptionally difficult to shoot at much distance. I have a Dixie 32 Cal flintlock, and at 25 yards you can cover the groups with a dime. At 50 yds it's more like a baseball. It seems like it shouldn't open up that fast but it always...
