I have read that the 73 Mauser like mine has a larger bore than the 43/8? repeater. The bore on my single shot is .457". Chamber will only allow a .450" boolit so I use 3grs (yes!) of poly-fil and it shoots good. The repeaters are supposed to...

I think splatter is not the correct term. It is little flakes that come from cutting the sprue and then when the mold is opened it drops into the mold. It might be possible to prevent these by turning the mold upside down before opening.

I was at Home Depot buying some roof sealer when I noticed this fan switch by the attic ventilation fans. I am wanting to put a thermostat control in my motor home for the ventilation fan so it will turn itself on and off. Then I got to thinking...

Some of the older Lyman molds for the 311041 have a larger diameter, around .311" to .312". These seem to hit the rifling sooner than the newer molds that drop at about .310". I have no problems with the 311041 in my 21" tapered carbine barrel or my...

rking22, Gary Reeder makes, or made a revolver cartridge on a shortened 30 Herret but I can not find it on his website. I do have a dummy cartridge he gave me about 10 years ago. No you got me wondering if the Streaker wasn't on the 30 Herret?! I...

I too have gotten the flakes on the mold faces. I think it comes from the cut sprue and drops on the mold faces when the mold is opened. My fix was to add a little pewter or tin to the alloy and it will stop the flaking. On the iron molds i...

I checked the Autozone web site and it lists a hydraboost so it runs off the power steering pump. A bad tensioner can cause the belt to slip and the brake and electrical issues. There was one version of this engine that the belt could be...

The reduction formula is ONLY for H4895 and ONLY for the data Hodgdon publishes. The formula is to reduce as much as 60% of the maximum listed load of Hodgdon's data. This is not for IMR4895, although some people do use it Hodgdon does not condone...

IIRC V110 is a little slower than 296/110. With powders of this speed I usually find 18 or 19 grs work well. You are off to a great start considering the conditions you were shooting in.

I have a rechambered 22lr barrel to 22K Hornet that shoots jacketed and cast very well. Can go from 22 short velocities to almost 221 Fireball. I have gotten 3,000 fps with the 35gr jacketed bullets. 2,500 fps is easy to do with cast. This is a...

leadman replied to a thread Forming an AI case ? in Cast Boolits
Most rifles, especially military surplus, can shorten the case causing excess headspace by just pulling the trigger on an empty but primed case. This is why the primer sticks out of the case. IIRC Ackley used standard headspace specs when...

The 30 Streaker was designed back in the late 60s or early 70s for handguns. 357 case necked down to 30 caliber. Read about it in an old American Rifleman I think. Seems like there is very little new when it comes to playing with the older...

It is possible to get the die offset in the RCBS luber/sizer. Don't know about the Lyman machine. This can cause the boolit to be sized off center. Try loosening the hold down nut and find a top punch that is just the right size to enter the taper...
