303 British. The only reference I could find to an AE headstamp is from a pre indepence Israeli clandestine facility that started up in 1944. Thanks in advance. Tom

They had an AAV sink during training, seems like most of the guys in it haven't ben found and now the presumption is they drowned inside. During my 24 years in the Army with all the night time field training and tracked vehicle movements and...

I'd go with a much softer, more malleable alloy than water quenched wheel weights, that sounds like a pencil entry and exit and long tracking job to me. If she is well enough practiced to place shots accurately, it should work just fine.

Nice rifle, after reading your other thread about it, I was figuring it would find a good home with you. Oughta be a great cast shooter.

Well, I have a good amount of it. I don't shoot a lot of jacketed bullets anymore, but do occasionally. I always found IMR4831 to be a good performer in the '06 back when I did shoot them. Planning to get started developing a deer load for the...

I have some of this and it appears to burn pretty close to IMR 4831 from the data I've found. Anybody have experience with it?

It's good stuff in a lot of things, and powder isn't gonna get easier to find for a while. Figure out something to use it for and save your regular stuff.

There are a few very long threads down in the rimfire section on how to convert useable .32 Long Colt cases from other brass. Robert

If you do this, stamp the number below the original number. Do not alter it in any way, the feds don't like that at all.

That would have been a darn shame if it had happenned. The .300 H&H has always interested me, only big .30 Magnum that does. I'd love to have a 721 in it.

.308 in a .270 seems to be more common than most would think, I've heard of this happening before, once at the range I frequent here, though I wasn't around when it happenned. Remington 700 in that instance. I don't think I'd trust that rifle...

I always heard that "he who smelt it, dealt it". If this is the most upsetting thing you see discussed on this site, you have an awfully easy life.

For cast, I have yet to find a better shooter than the old 311284. Ten shots at 100 yards.

"Need" doesn't enter the equation really. .30-06 and .30-30 are two that there always seems to be room for one more for me. That sounds like a nice rifle, and the'06 is a good cast shooter in my experience.

Just stir the pot with a dry stick. Nothing you put on top of the melt will get down into the lead, due to specific gravity. A handful of kitty litter on top of the melt helps keep consistent temperature.

I was going to guess the first decade of the 1900's before I got down to where gave 1908. Even if you can find an extractor and get it in safe firing order, I would not shoot high velocity shells. It was made for what we now call standard...

We had a cat long time ago. He was just a kitten when he climbed under the hood of my old car (69 Plymouth Fury). Well he got caught up in the belts. I had to put on a Levi Jacket and leather gloves to get him out. He fell out when the tension was...

I agree with Tatume. Although if the vertical hole is already in the sight I would tap it before fitting to the barrel, then spot drill a divot for the grub screw after sighting in. An empty hole just looks so unfinished. Robert

I can't stand to see a dog or cat suffer, so good on you for taking care of the kitten. However, I have never had good luck taking a cat to the vet. It seems like every time I spend money on a feline, it dies within a month or two. Usually the...

John Ross in "Unintended Consequences" repeatedly showed examples of the gun culture, and I never felt insulted by it. This book is also a very recommended read on the American gun culture.
