. It's most likely the primers used, but just in case, I would also disassemble the bolt and check that there isn't anything in the firing pin channel or on the FP body (burr ? ) that could occasionally hang up the FP from going fully forward. ...

. IDK about the throating, but can tell you that I was able to buy a nearly-new .30-30 Contender ($100) from a fella who decided to immediately sell it after the barrel rose in recoil during his 1st shot, smacking him in the forehead & drawing...

. In over 50 years of hunting/shooting with front stuffers, I've NEVER used any kind of filler. You'll likewise be GTG, as long as the projectile is seated firmly against the powder charge. Leaving an airspace between the powder charge and...

pietro replied to a thread T/C or Traditions in Muzzleloading.
. IME: * Cracked T/C stocks are due to overloads........ * There's no need to be concerned about repair parts for a T/C, as they are hell for stout, and everybody (online parts vendors) carries the parts. .

pietro replied to a thread Rossi 92 rebarrel in Leverguns
. Board member John Taylor here does excellent re-lining but IMO, while re-lining to .38-40 might work (I would be leery about the chamber diameter needed), a liner with a .427" bore would be impractacal because it's too thin. .

. John would know better, but IMO due to the very small difference in bore sizes between the .45 Colt (.458") and the .44-40 (.427"), the liner wouldn't work. IMO (again) while a liner might work if the entire barrel's bored out to accept a...

pietro replied to a thread .45 TC Hawken in Muzzleloading.
. The .45cal T/C Hawken weighs 9lbs. The .50cal T/C Hawken weighs 8-1/4lbs. The .45cal T/C Seneca weighs 7lbs. The .45cal T/C Cherokee weighs 6-1/2lbs. The Cherokee & Senecas are lighter than the Hawken due to thinner/shorter barrels,...

. FWIW I've been using Bore Butter since it was first introduced (early 1980's ? ), and have long decided that it doesn't need any "fixing" ( or a change). .

. Nice! I would respectfully suggest replacing that commercial rear dovetail slot filler blank with one fashioned from the male dovetail portion of a fancy take-off longleaf rear open sight. I usually do that, as I did on my 16" Big Loop...

First thought: Sans a Cody letter to the contrary, the saddle ring and forward barrel band on a Rifle model (vs a Carbine model) are not an issue configuration. Second thought: Whether it's genny or not, the stock refinish reduces it's value by...
