New hot plates are surprisingly inexpensive. I already tossed one that quit, and recently bought another to have on hand for when I need it.

I believe the .32-20 was developed specifically to be a small game hunting rifle.

I have the Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt with the 7 1/2" barrel, and also the Uberti/Cimmaron .45 Colt with the 5 1/2" barrel. I NEED the 4 3/4" barrel to complete my collection. Both guns are great shooters, but did require a little tweaking.

1/2 of a brick of SPG lube will easily do over 1,000 200 grain 452 diameter bullets for .45 Colt. Maybe even twice that many.

I bought a set of 5 steel targets. I'm spending some time scrounging through my undesignated inventory pile, finding stuff that will work, and then welding together a stand for each of those targets. I am retired, and have always been somewhat of a...

I also have the Lee hardness tester, and it does give at least a general idea of the BHN, but the kit should have been furnished with some means of holding the scope securely. I think you may have a good idea there.

Local gun show scheduled for the 13th, 14th, and 15th this weekend. I do not expect it to be canceled, but if it is, I'll just pay a visit to my local FFL, and get what he WAS going to bring to the show for me.

Interesting thread. Wife got one of those instant pots for Christmas. We still haven't figured out why we even need it.

I just my casting pot back into the original box, and close it up. I'll know in about in a year if that is good enough.

I harvest the range scrap from my own shooting range only. Mostly cast lead bullets, but a few jacketed 9mm occasionally. I don't worry about the hardness because all of it started life as a lead bullet.

Froogal replied to a thread Hardness 14-15 in Cast Boolits
Missouri Bullets considers their "cowboy" bullets to be 12 BHN. I have used these in my .45 Colt revolvers, and the same load in the Rossi lever action, and NO indications of leading in the bore. I have also cast some bullets using 1-16 lead which...

I own 2 Rossi rifles. A .357 which cycles .38s just fine, and also a .45 Colt. Both rifles THRIVE on lots of oil. They like to be wet.

Froogal replied to a thread Melting Lead in Casting Equipment
First, test those wheel weights with a side cutter. If you can cut them, they are lead. If you cannot cut them, get rid of them. Next, get an electric hotplate and a 6 inch or 8 inch cast iron skillet. That set up will easily melt down those lead...

Around here, the propane companies will NOT fill any tank unless they have inspected it, and approved it themselves. One company will NOT fill any tank that they do not own.

Casting, reloading, and shooting is probably one of the least expensive hobbies a guy can get into. I have to buy the lead I use, and when it is all said and done, I could have bought the bullets ready to go for about the same price, but doing my...

I have one of those Lee hand primers. I used it a couple of times and put it back in the box. Don't need it. I use the primer holder that came with the Lee press. If I want to, I can deprime, resize, and reprime all in the same operation.
