Even some full length insert barrels would be great, but defeats the purpose of buying a cheap gun to start with. I've used 20ga inserts and they do surprisingly well pattern wise if the gun has any kind of choke, the ones I've got are steel and...

From my reading of it it was made between 1923 and 1952, proofed for black powder only, 2 3/4" chambers. On that note it's best not to shoot smokeless in it, the later make then the original 1890's estimate means the barrels are most likely...

Trap loads (unless specific low pressure loads) are the same psi as standard 2 3/4" buckshot 2 3/4" loads, so if you have shot heaps of low brass trap loads then buckshot is fine.

I use melted down Winchester lead shot, I figure if it's good enough as shot it should do for RB too. It says super hard lead, I think from memory it's 5% antimony so it should harden some, it seams a little harder anyway. But either way it either...

This is how the load stacks up, it's pretty simple. Load the wad in the press as normal, then push in a 19x3mm felt wad, then .690 RB and crimp as normal. Even I can't stuff that up.

Those two ball wads are interesting, I was looking at getting a 3d printer in the future, I could print some of those for any size ball I like. Probably be not much more then importing steel shot wads anyway. And I could make all sorts of fun...

I took apart some Remington nitro steel shells and found two .662 balls fit in good, I was going to use a single ball but that left a lot of space, it took about 35-40mm of felt to bring them up to height. If I can do this then it might be a great...

I'm going to cast a few more this afternoon, but it's got me thinking, I'd like a svarog .690 mold as they cast much nicer balls then the Lee mold do, but I'm wondering if I should get a .678 one instead, but now I've got the .690 working I'm...

My next great idea is to load two .662 RB in a steel shot wad but I'm a bit worried about both the pressure and the recoil. That would be a 52gm payload and that's probably a fair bit too much. Anyone played with a load like that? The reason For...

They are 19mm x 3mm, the wads are AA my auto correct keeps changing things on me. I don't trim the petals, I used to without the felt and also roll crimped but I've found this much better. I can understand how cutting two opposing petals would...

The only buckshot choke I can buy locally is the Carlsons ported buckshot choke, but I see the best results coming from the Buck buster and the boar blaster. I'd rather have one of those I think.

I needed a simple cheap solution and had to use what I could find. I think this works because the wads are 11mm in diameter and the felt things are 19mm, that makes them hug the ball and help keep them central like a doughnut wad.

I don't know for sure if it was the new barrel I picked up yesterday or the new way of loading my RB I tried last night but it's finally come together. The load is a .690 Lee RB, water quenched loaded on top of a believe it or not 19mm stick on...

I tried paper patching some .662 RB today, in the tightest shot cup that I could fit them in I was getting about a 2ft group at 45 yards, I paper patched them in a wad, and and seated them on a 1mm thick nylon washer today in a Winchester AS 1 1/8...

That's pretty **** good, I'd use that on pigs any day of the week, I'd use it on deer to if it was only legal where I hunt. I've liked the idea of 000 buck as bigger pellets and only 1 less then 00 buck, but every time I see them patterned the...

I'm also thinking about not bothering with this buck and ball after all, I'd rather focus on getting my .662 RB going. I just picked up a mint Mex 600 junior press with 2000 wads and 10kg of shot for next to nothing, so I'm going to try star...

Anyone tried regular 2 3/4" shells through the Buckbuster choke? We can't get 3" shells anywhere near where I live and I'm curious about how well they go with the lighter rounds.

Not completely but strangely it might have given me an idea with my .690 RB on its own. If I was to trim the wad petals by 2/3-3/4 and sit the 690 RB on a nylon .8mm thick washer, then it would act like a doughnut wad and center the ball, there...

The main aim of this was only 50m accuracy or about 55 yards, it was about finding cheap and hard hitting ammunition for my pig trips. I usually go through 200-400 rounds a trip in a good year and want to use the shotgun with a imp/cyl choke....
