I was thinking about sacrificing some .38spl cases for that. Run them in the 300blk or 7.62x25 die to neck them down. The blk collet crimp may squeeze them down enough to hold the GC shank on a .30 bullet.

I think I would re-line it too. after I went through all the trouble of making some shot shells and playing around shooting grass hoppers and bees and stuff for a while.

if the burn rate is a medium speed powder then reducing it should pose no issue. 43 grs under a 150 sounds like it is in the 4064/varget area and a reduction to 70% would do nothing more than slow the bullet down. a ball powder like Outpost...

you can only draw the alloy down to it's original air cooled hardness. you can temporarily soften it past that point but it will be back at it's bhn within a week. 15 minutes in an oven does nothing to change that.

I went down this road. put a gas check on the base and water drop your softer alloy. you can then get to 1900 fps without all the gyrations.

462 is 45-70 territory. check to see if it ain't a smoothbore. they used to make a 44-40 chambered shot type round that had a wooden type bullet full of rat shot.

yeah a tapered round nose would mimic many of the older 30-30 bullets like the win power point. only I think the 5.7 jacket would be a bit thinner. I have used the no neck cases and left the die set to make the longer full length h-points, it...

I didn't see your load there. but if they ain't falling in the case or sitting on the top of a case full of 4198 your fine to shoot them. next time I would measure stuff. especially a bullet designed to fill a rifles throat without anything...

it probably wasn't all that quiet in the revolver either. I have loads I shoot in my leverguns that are minimum loads but entirely adequate for their intended use. and they are downright obnoxious in the Dan Wesson even with the gap set to about...

about 150 if you take the case neck off. a RN die could be made but the ejection pin has to be made slightly different. but i bet it wouldn't take Brian very long to make one with the ejector pin even with the end of the die.

I watch my tumblers while I'm adding brass and walnut to them. I'm trying to balance out the contact of the nuts to the volume of cases and the weight. there is a visible point where the tumbler slows the roll but the cases hang up and the media...

it takes a full hour to heat saturate a bullet enough to let the antimony move and do the hardening. when we quench we are trapping that antimony all throughout the matrix. in effect we make 3% antimony act like 6-8% antimony by not allowing it to...

that set screw is a life saver. almost every LEE mold gets one added sooner or later. I think they would be better served adding one at the factory and charging another dollar.

200 isn't too light for the 45 colt. they might impact the target a bit lower but they will shoot good groups if you click up the rear sight. I use 165's in my fixed sight USFA's and they impact just below the top of the front sight at 25 yds or...

oxidized nitrogen is flammable. an oxygen free barrier is needed to return lead/tin oxides back into the alloy. when I ladle cast I just keep pushing the oxides out of the way, then skim them and save the skimmings. when I get done I return...
