whooping crane is called roast beef here. we can't shoot swans though, we just raise them so the people to the south of us can shoot them. I have had swan before it is like goose. it was a draw tag in Utah.

you can get the elements and bend them around a pot. they don't become hardened and brittle like until you heat them up. a 110 stove element will melt 10-12 lbs of alloy in about 20-30 minutes.

a couple of years Back Gearknasher put up a post about organ pipes and explained the alloy used. if you could search it out you might just get the answer you seek.

a colder primer might do better with a 2-5 gr kicker charge of a faster powder. how far do you want to go looking for accuracy from a 30-40 Krag. personally I wouldn't spend the money for BR primers for an old bolt gun. well okay I would but it...

if I had a tip forming die I could almost 100% duplicate the sierra bullet. the Die set I got from you is within .001 in matching where the ogive hits. the only major difference is about .0005 in diameter. of course the extra work I put in is...

having torn up an aluminum mold trying it ... I just tried a brass mold on the master caster and I like it. I can loaf along and just keep the handle moving at a steady pace and it does it's thing. maybe a 45-70 would be over kill, but for...

light changed? they are 100 fps apart but show the same variance and such. a little tip on that XCB bullet. it needs a hard alloy, I have one of the three original molds from the test batch. I use it in a 10 twist and just about match jacketed...

if your planning on that, go with his steel or brass molds. I would also step right into a master caster and not the lee pot, they are waaaay too different for anything you gain from the lee pot to transfer over. I have 2-3 of both sitting on...

I'd take the lead amount up 50 lbs would get you to about 3% antimony. a little tin and you'd be right near ww or isotope core alloy. me being me I would take it even further 70 lbs of lead and 5 lbs of the 30% alloy would be closer to what I'm...

the 314 is well suited to the 7.65 argie round. the K-31 has a completely different throat/bore/groove dimensions than any of the others you mention, it will like a silhouette design.

N-110 is like our 2400. in use not exact burn speed. as I remember VV put out a load manual for cast bullets and N-110 is the prominent powder used in the manual. I would contact them or find one of those manuals. I wouldn't enlarge the flash...

lee's manual is telling you an engineer number that deals with shear stress numbers. your supporting the alloy in a steel tube. so your deformation comes from the back of the bullet going forward. avoiding that by delaying the high pressure until...

you can cast just as fast by hand as with the machine. faster actually. your not giving up anything by buying a magma mold, they are top notch and hold up to tons of casting.

back in the old days they used tin with their lead. I would bet 25 or 30-1 would be more than enough with the P/C applied. I realize a pound of tin would only make like 5-600 boolits.

you can squish a gas check up in diameter all you need is pressure. I push 8mm checks on 8mm boolits up to 358 all the time, it's how I make 140gr gas checked wad cutters.

no they can't. the harder alloy's are compensating for mold design. you have different states of fitment, and a design that relies totally on mechanical fitment needs a harder alloy to fight and resist the deformation acceleration and lead...
