JoeJames replied to a thread Blessing of bullets! in Cast Boolits
For some reason I don't think all 44 Magnums are bored exactly to SAAMI spec. My Rossi shoots one hole groups (well same hole) at 25 yards with the .431 Oregon Trail laser cast and with my home cast .430 Lee 240 grain swc's. I tried a box of factory...

Depends on the bullet hardness and diameter. With Oregon Trail .431" hard cast 240's and 7 grains on Unique they run 1150 fps in my Rossi 92, with my Lee homecast .430" water quenched 240's and 7 grains of Unique they run 1050 fps or so. Both are...

JoeJames replied to a thread Primer Shortage? in Our Town
Bad thing is there are some folks who have just now started getting interested in reloading. Not everyone has been reloading like a lot of us for 30 or 40 years. And at a time when we need to encourage them, if for no other reason than potential...

Excellent point on balanced inventory. Say you are primarily loading 38 Special wadcutters; if casting the boolits are not that big a deal if you have access to wheel weights, etc., and with a straight wall case, the cases can be reused many, many...

I know I am fighting against the waves, but I would be interested in a decent single shot in either 32 S&W Long, or 32-20. But with the waves going from 32 H&R Magnum to .327, thence on to something else that is 1/10" longer than that next time; I...

Aw shucks the powers in the Dem party are just getting us used to long lines and short supply, after they get in control.

That is quite true. Did any of us think things would ever in our wildest nightmares get to this point?

Free market supply ebbs and flows, but in a potential worst case, and remember Harris, Sanders, and Warren have suggested government control of corporations by the people. If we end up with government planning and control of the distribution of...

JoeJames replied to a thread Henry 44 Magnum in Leverguns
I had one for a spell. Found it really liked Oregon Trail .431" 240 grain SWC's. Factory bought HSM Cowboy 44 Special loads key-holed at 15 yards. I think they must have been .428- .429. Anyhow I traded it off for a Rossi R92. Henry weighed 8.5...

Loaded up my first box of 50 32 S&W Longs, my own Cast - 100 grain .312" swc's, 2 gr. Bullseye, Win sp primers. Had plenty of bullets; so I culled a couple. One of them red letter days. Nice to know I have about 70 more bullets I cast on Saturday,...

A buddy asked me if I loaded 38 S&W; so I got in a set of dies, checked Hatcher's Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers and loaded up some with 2.3 grains of Bullseye, and mixed boolits - 148 grain HBWC's and pulled 38 Special lead round nose, and...

Had my right eye done about fifteen years ago. Still good vision. Hope the next one does as well; it should.

To me the 32 S&W Long is a good replacement to the 22LR for pistol shooting. I have plenty of 22 ammo, but I like shooting the little 32's, and don't worry about running out of boolits. About 70 per pound of alloy

One thing along with easier loading with the usual DA revolver; the hammer is a bit lighter than a single action's. For example my S&W Model 67 vs. my Ruger Blackhawk S.A. Not particularly a mental block; I've just always shot S.A. Bit late in the...
