As I noted in another thread; I've tried the following ammo: Win. Bulk pack 36 grain rn, Win Super X 40 grain rn, CCI Minimag 36 grain rn, Remington Golden Bullets 40 grain rn, and CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain rn. The CCI Standard Velocity Target...

I got in an Accurate 3 cavity mold. I broke down and ordered a set of Lee commercial handles. Fits perfectly - seems like they were @ $19.

Agreed. But most of my buddies are used to my shooting calibers like that. But when one of them does come across say a Webley in 38/200 I'm the one they turn to.

I scanned the target for my notebook for future reference. Thought I'd post it here too. If you look carefully and can decode my hieroglyphics, you can see which ammo did fairly well and which did not. I wanted all ammo on the same page so I did not...

Killed them with 38 Special SWC's and 22 LR. One was digging up the foundation under my porch steps. Took about 4 rounds of 22 LR to shut him down that time. Analogy would be like trying to kill a possum.

My pet 44 Magnum load for my Rossi R92 - is 7 grains of Unique under a .431 Laser Cast Oregon Trail 240 grain SWC. It runs about 1150 fps in my 5 pound Rossi lever gun. Accurate and easy on my old shoulder.

Weather briefly improved enough to do a more formal ammo test - still quite dark and overcast, but quite above freezing and actually up to 60 degrees. 15 yards, off an MTM pistol rest. Wrangler with poor man's trigger job = 2.5 pounds rather than...

I agree, but I live in Arkansas, which as I recall had the most per capita gun owners in the US. If the shoot was justified, it will not make any difference as far as what was used. If not justifiable, then there are many other issues to deal with....

When you get full up on those puny little ole revolvers in Virginia, send a few on to Arkansas. We'uns have the same problem here in Arkansas that y'all have with giant Grizzle Bears. That's what the 50 cal boomers are for ain't it? Seriously the...

I consider Unique as in a mid range moderate loading. For 38 S&W and 38 Special I always use Bullseye. For 44 Special and very moderate 44 Special and 44 Magnum loads I use Unique. For upper range but still moderate 44 Magnum I go up to 2400. I have...

"Shooting low" First run out of the box my Wrangler shot about 3 inches low. Then I did the poor man's trigger job and then it shot to point of aim. With the stock Ruger trigger pull I think I was pulling low owing to the standard issue heavy Ruger...

I have read many comments over the years that 3 grains of Bullseye under about any boolit is a good load. Under 148 grain Wad cutters I usually shoot 3.1 grains. I looked back at my notes, and with 158 grain SWC's I have found 3.8 grains is the most...

Might notice I was shooting about an inch to the right. I am putting that down to trigger position. Weather was too bad for me to use my MTM pistol rest; so I was just shooting from a knee rest on my porch steps. Let me know how those grips fit.

Did the poor man's trigger job. Dropped it from the standard Ruger trigger pull of 4 1/2 pounds - 5 pounds down to 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 pounds. Found that it was not actually shooting two - three inches low at 15 yards but was actually to point of aim....

Ok, I bit and got one in black for $190 plus rapacious local sales tax = total $209. Tested the trigger and figured it would be a standard Ruger trigger = and it was 4 1/2 pounds. Always get a spring kit after I get a Ruger anyhow - no big deal. But...
