That’s interesting about comparing a round ball to a baseball. I’m just getting into smooth bore and want to learn as much as I can about what happens and how it all works. I’m looking at fifty yards. What difference due powder changes make, if...

What happens when a patched round ball comes of the muzzle of a smooth bore? Does it just stay in the same position as loaded? Does it rotate at all? Tumble? Have there been any high speed videos put online showing what happens ? Thanks

I dread the day coming soon, when I will just have to move stuff up and out of the basement, to pour a concrete slab. I’m tired of searching for dropped items on a dirt floor. I’ve even considered pouring half at a time. That way I could store stuff...

I’ve been getting ready to buy my first one. There are so many different brands, types and kits out there, it’s hard to know where to start and with which tools. How about shank size? Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I know a lot of people like the idea of the same caliber hand gun and rifle. I’ve always wondered if, for best performance, would you load them both the same? Boolit weight, amount and powder burn rate?

I had one for a short time and bought the dies, but never got the chance to reload for it. The question I was asking myself, was if I shouldn’t use slower burning powder, than that used for handguns. Maybe theres data for rifles today, but I don’t...

To me it used to be simple. A shotgun was smooth bore. Now with rifled shotgun barrels and all the new slugs that are being developed, the line between a shotgun and rifle is getting pretty thin. It will only take one accident at a long distance,...

I’d like to see some regs that state that you can have a rifled cartridge up to one inch. Does that mean you can use a 20mm on prairie dogs if you want to?

I have always thought that the max caliber for a rifle was .50. Iíve seen 12ga shotguns shooting pumpkin balls then slugs, then rifled slugs and finally rifled sabot slugs. All that I understand can fall within the regs of a shotgun. However, I...

Sounds like you had a great trip. I don’t mind the open roads driving, but going through big cities is getting more and more stressful. I’ll drive longer and further to avoid it, if possible.

I agree. I think they are making better quality exhaust systems that last longer. That’s for original equipment. Don’t know about replacement parts made in Mexico or who knows where.

I bought a kit of polishing compounds and mandrels. I have six blocks of grit in different colors, but nothing that tells me which color is which grit. Is there a standard for the colors or is there a way to find out which is which? Thanks

I bet they use salt in the winter where you live. When I lived in Pa. I often had issues with exhaust systems. When I moved to interior Alaska, then no more problems. They don’t use salt. It’s too cold to work.

In my opinion, Lee molds are a great deal, if they have what you’re looking for. However, I will only buy a new one, that can be returned if it’s not right. Buying used, how much are you saving? Maybe you’re just getting someone else’s problem. Not...

Iíve been working on my new mini lathe and the other day I made a tiny machine screw for an old gun. It was a small part so, after turning I used a jewelers file to clean it up. The scratches left were finer than the 320 paper, I would normally use...

Good luck reloading for your .45-70 Marlin. I’ve been reloading for mine for over thirty years. Definitely my favorite round to reload. I’ve used cast boolits from 300 to 500 grains. I even shoot it with black powder. Try what others have...
