I've had a 1500 in the past and currently own 2 of the lite's. The lite is just as accurate. It is a little bit slower with regular powders. It does not overthrow like the 1500 often does. In 1000's of rounds i've used my lites for i have had...

I've got an RCBS 38-158-SWC on order which is very similar. I hope to have it in a couple of days. My alloy is 94% lead, 3% tin an 3% antimony. Lube is a blend of 80% LBT Blue Soft and 20% Lyman Orange Magic. I add the OM to firm up the Blue...

Over the past year i have meticulously logged every load across the 9 calibers i reload for. Every load variation was ran past my Lab Radar chronograph and the data added to a spreadsheet. I have been experimenting with coatings and often times...

I bought this one last year. .44-40 Blued Pistol Grip model with 24" octagonal Barrel. I love it. Quality is excellent and accuracy is outstanding. I can blot out the X ring at 55yd with the tang sight and Lyman Globe front sight.

My No3 that was rebarelled to .357 Max (See post #2) ejects cartridges just fine. It flicks them out with a bit of force and they hit the front edge of the safety and bounce out to the side.

I hear ya. I just had a Rifle re-barrelled into .357 Max with the intention of only ever firing cast through it. It shot (shoots) poorly with cast so i was feeling a bit dejected with the rifle. I loaded up some jacketed and they shoot very...

I saw on one youtube video where the presenter says he uses the Hornady One Shot Case lube (in the aerosol can). 2 coats with drying time in between. I have not used it to bed a rifle but i have tried it when i bedded a scope base using JB...

Savvy Jack, do you find the Redding Profile crimp swages the bullet down? I tried it for a while and it made the rounds easy to chamber but when i pulled some bullets they were squeezed down by .001 - .002.

Hi Randy, I have a Win/Miroku 1873 with 24" octagonal barrel. I have fitted a Marbles Tang Sight and Lyman 17A globe front sight. My go-to load is the Accurate 43-220C with 8gn of Unique for 1180fps (I also have a LabRadar). This load will...

    Hi Bob, I have chronographed some loads with RL7 and 220gn bullets. The Accurate 43-220C. These are my results. 23.5gn = 1235fps in a 20" barrel; 1270fps in a 24" 24.5gn = 1290fps in a 20" barrel

I have a .357 Maximum rifle with a 22" barrel and 1:18.7" twist. The 180gn cast bullets i have tried in the rifle have proven to be inaccurate and many people more experienced with this caliber are of the opinion that the twist is too slow for...

Time for an update on the rifle. So far I've shot 125 cast loads through the rifle and the results have been less than i hoped. I have tried 180gn gas checked molds from Saeco and NOE, both using 2400 powder. 14.5gn & 15gn loads chronographed at...

JFE, I size after coating. My most recent batch of test loads are not coated and using normal lube. No difference with the seating depth. I hand seated a bullet way out in an unsized fired case and chambered the round, then measured the OAL to find...

I have about 20 of the NOE expanders and i almost always split the two numbers down the middle. eg. for .358 bullets i use the .360 x .356 expander. I find this gives me .002 of neck tension and a .002 bell that most sized bullets will sit...

DW475, it's a phenomenon i've seen with several 45-70 rifles and light loads. They always seem to shoot way high. The skinner Bear Buster front sight (Single screw model) works great on mine and brought the POI down. You will also need a larger...

I had a #1 in 45-70 and yep, full power loads will introduce you the the laws of physics and equal/opposite reactions. Oddly enough, after i sold that rifle i regretted it and wanted another 45-70. I ended up with a Thompson Encore Katahdin...

I use a cheap food dehydrator from the discount store. 30 mins at the lowest setting (70c or 158f) and the brass is dry. I see now that Lyman and Hornady are now marketing re-badged food dehydrators as brass driers and asking 4 times what...

pertnear, that just about sums up why this project started. I bought the rifle used. It had been re-barrelled with a pencil weight barrel in 6mm-222 and had a scope mount that was allegedly done by a gunsmith with a good reputation here in Aus but...

Eye Relief with the FX-2 4x33 is almost just enough. Ideally i would've liked a little bit more, but it's usable as is. I also have an FX-3 6x42 and that scope has the ideal eye relief, but it spoilt the look and balance of the rifle IMO and 6x...

Hi All, I just picked up my Ruger #3 from the gunsmith. It has been re-barrelled and chambered in .357 Maximum with a 22" Lothar Walther barrel. The scope mount and rings are from S&K. The Scope is Leupold VX-II 4x33. The factory fore end...
