Obviously, your hunting tactics have to match the situation. If your equipment & your skills are up to long shots, go for it! I've hunted in Taiwan, Washington State, California, Arkansas, Tennessee, N. Dakota, Manitoba, Virginia, N. Carolina & S....

I think many of these guys that say they can shoot dime or nickel size groups are fooling themselves. Just because you shot a 1/2", 200 yd. group once upon a time with a sand bag rest doesn't mean you can do it consistently under field conditions....

I am on my second .300 Win.. I bought the first one because I was contemplating a Big game hunt in Canada but that never happened. I bought the second one because I already had the dies & was thinking I would just load .308 equivalent loads for...

My aunt didn't eat the eyes but she did eat the brains & make a little doll out of the head. When I was a teen, there was a black guy that lived across the marsh. We called him old Sam but he was only 35 when he died. He wasn't big but he was...

My aunt aunt use to parboil them first. She wouldn't let you bring a rabbit in the house but she loved squirrel because her husband liked squirrel.(my aunt was sort of eccentric) She ate them, head & all. You can't feed a family of 4 with one...

I haven't tried that one but it seems all the subs can be difficult to light at times. One way to get rid of it is do like curator says & prime it by putting a few grains of BP down the barrel first. Not a great fix if you are hunting as it makes...

Hogtamer, I think we are on the same page. I get misunderstood a lot. I have always strived to be a good person & to do the right thing. I have always wanted to believe in God but until relatively recently, I was teetering on the fence because of...

OK, so what do we do about it? A former employee of mine (a white female) once said to me during a survey under very harsh conditions in a swamp. A real swamp with water & alligators & all, "you are pretty tough for a skinny little white boy". I am...

Wow, that's nice! I think I have it's little brother. Mine is a .357. That gun is so easy to shoot. My wife was in the Army combat intelligence corps but she had not fired a handgun before in her life. I showed her how to shoot it on a Saturday &...

The whole idea (at least for me) for cast bullets in the .416 is a rifle that is not overly powerful for deer & hogs but that can be loaded to higher levels should the need arise. There are reduced jacketed bullet loads for the .416 Ruger that will...

The .308 is inheritably a very accurate rifle. I once had a Remington 788 in .308 Win.. I never put a scope on it. I don't recall the load but it had a velocity of 2000 fps or more & the bullet was the Lyman 170 gr. FP designed for the .30-30. I got...

I was thinking about the .416 Ruger also. I don't really need another gun but the temptation of a new toy is hard to resist. I was thinking the Ruger .416 might make a good CB rifle. Reloading data is limited since it is relatively new. Varaget...

.44 mag., Your logic is flawed. Mass is not a unit of weight. Weight is a measure of gravitational attraction. A 10 lb. sledge weights 10 lbs. on earth. In outer space it's weight is ZERO but it still has 10 lbs. of mass. A kilogram was originally...
