I would think a good grade of phosphor bronze, say 95/5 to 90/10 Cu/Sn would be best, but high tin bronzes are difficult to machine....another good metal would be beryllium copper, but swarf is poisonous.....An aluminium bronze 90/10 Cu/Al would also...

I must say I much prefer R. Lees prices to D. Dastardlys .......anyhoo,Im boring out a Lee mold,no fancy CNC,just basic cylinder, hence only one groove.I could bore it out all the way to the ogive ,and have no grooves, which I have done to produce PP...

How many lube grooves does a bullet actually need? I was planning to oversize a Lee 459HB mold up to .470+by making the body cylindrical, eliminating all but the front lube groove. The theory being that lube from the front groove will flow over...

A good iron mold is great, but no matter how good,if you cast big bullets, the long cooling period really slows you down.....if you get impatient, you end up with bent bullets.I think I cast say 45/450gn twice as quick with a al mold.......but I dont...
