I figgered you made close to 4 lbs. So at that maybe your Crisco should be 1.6 lbs and the oil at .4 lbs so you can't be off much. And you can remelt easily enough to add if you want something.

Sounds right to me. About how mine is. It can be brittle when cold even though it's a soft lube. Maybe others with more experience than me will chime in.

Good advice GW. Rapid area is nice. We visit often. Good area for an outdoorsman! The western Dakota's are rich in game. Just about no such thing as going hunting and not seeing something .

Welcome Adam. Enjoyed your comments in post 11. Wish I had people willing to help out in trade for hunting. Sadly the last guy I asked seemed ticked off that I would ask such a thing. You are treating ranchers well it sounds. Wishing you luck!

Yes I have. I shortened a 500 Smith fcd to use with 500 JRH and more for 500 Linebaugh. Have modified the 45 Colt ones as well . Usually they crimp in wrong place and the crimp area is too long.

A inch or two less than height of the tallest flame you likely will use should get you started. Might have better luck with a heat jacket than skirt. We use a barrel that is a few inches bigger in diameter and a little taller than pot. Then put a...

Wish I had pix. Maybe get some done sometime. They look like they come out of water if impact veocity isn't too much for alloy.

That means you are getting a good seal. Seen it many times. Bollit upsets then squirts lube out and fills the transition cone. Lower the powder charge for less pressure and probably won't do it.

Those ice targets sound fun! I was just shooting into ice in a pond. It's interesting that they come out looking perfect! Don't have pix as I have dumb phone but nothing too complicated. Just blast the ice and get showered with chunks and dig it...

We now have enough ice for ice testing as I call it. Shot some cast bullets into ice today for recovery. Works good if alloy and speed are compatible. They come out about perfect! Can't tell from water sometimes.

I have sourced some parts for ballisticast molds and machines lately from NV Ballistics. Sprue plates, keys, pot gaskets and other hardware available for the old stuff. They are also building molds as well I am told. They don't have they're web site...
