I agree with Winelover. The other factor he doesn't mention, is the water warms as more boolits are dropped in. Oven heat treating, all the boolits go into the water at the same time, water is the same temp, which makes for uniform hardening. ...

You could devise a vibratory gravel sifter (electric or manual), but there would probably be so much powdered lead in the mix that could become airborne, I would think it would be too risky (healthwise), for the reward.

Yesterday, I also was pondering the meaning of life, the universe and everything. I was loading some 410610 (a 41 cal SWC very similar to the 35 caliber 358156). The previous day, I had worked up a load to Max for my 3" 657. The GC'd 410610...

Old Ideal/Lyman GC's were designed for boolits that were cast from old ideal molds....and some old molds marked Lyman. If you measure the Shank on boolits from older Ideal/Lyman molds, they are a tad larger. The Thin Ideal/Lyman GC are made from...

I am loading a batch of 'snappy' 41 Mag today. I loaded several different charges of 2400 in some test rounds yesterday, to work up a load. I wanted to find the limit for my 3" 657 with the Lyman 410610. and the winner was 17.7 gr. It was 15...

For years, I've coated automotive battery terminals with standard grease, with one exception, it worked just fine. I don't grease or coat the GM style side terminals, they have never severely corroded for me, maybe a better design being on the...

Thanks for commenting on your results. While I have heard many positive stories, I also had a close friend who had poor results like you, she was a life long farmer's wife and wasn't afraid of work or some pain, but her issue was the Knee got...

Long skinny boolits are the most difficult to cast, and the 30 cal 230gr is probably the longest to dia ratio boolit out there. If you have wrinkles, your mold is not hot enough, you can only keep it hot by casting at a fast pace, Is the Hollow...

My opinion, The boxes are not perfect enough to be collectible...for that vintage, it's all about the box. Shoot the ammo, and put your favorite boxes in a shadow box in your man cave ...and give away or throw away the rest.

Since Lightman gave you a bunch of helpful hints. I will offer one, and it's an unusual one. Put out one item on the edge of the table as a "Gotcha item". If you are alone at the show, be sure to get the person at the next table in on the...

I am no expert on the PC, But as I understand it, correctly applied PC is super slippery, more so than Lube. I'm just thinking out loud here, but you don't mention cleaning the barrel. Maybe the residual waxes from BLL are being polished into...
