44Blam started a thread Strange brass... in Cast Boolits
Saw some brass this weekend where there was a tube that screwed into where the primer sat and funnelled the primer blast up and back toward the powder. It was about a 1 1/2" tube into what looked like a 30-06 case... Anyone seen anything like...

I have been powder coating and I like how it turns out. I'll bump up the temp next time to see if I can get a little better fill out.

The mould is a NOE SC460-350-RF-AE1 RG4 cavity GC... And I mix lead / lino / tin to get as close to #2 as I can assuming my lead is WW. I water drop them and then let them sit out to dry.

These were pretty challenging to cast. I tend to cast boolits around 600 degrees or a little better. But I couldn't get the point nose to fill around the point properly at that temp, so I went a little higher in the 700 degree range. These are...

I try to get my alloy as close to #2 as possible with lead + lino + tin. I noticed that my boolits tend to cast slightly lighter than the mold weight. So a 405 grn turns out to be around 402 or so and my .430 (44 mag) 240s tend to weigh in around...

I had about 30 cast boolits (405 grn .460 gas check -- with gas check) turn into little puddles! I guess my oven got a little too hot. Anyway, it took a little effort to get the gas check out of the puddle and I'll just melt them down and...

I would say the Ruger Redhawk. I've got one with the 7.5" barrel and it is really accurate. I load this thing from puff plinking rounds to booming full house rounds.

I have seen that you can get 80% lowers for ARs and for 1911 pistols... Does anyone do an 80% lower for a 44 Mag semi-auto?

A good load I like for the 45_70 is a 405 grn pb boolit with 40-42 grn of varget behind it. It has a good push, but I can shoot that all day. That sounds like a fun comp!

Loaded 50 45-70 rounds and 48 44 Mag rounds. I've got a Marlin 1895 and a Henry Big Boy (44 mag)... The 45-70 is a PB boolit that is powder coated and LLA at 405 grain with a 42 grain charge of Varget and the 44 Mag is also powder coated and LLA...

I just got my 1895 a little while back and I've shot mostly PC boolits... But I have lubed up about 50 in Bens Red. Those rounds were ladders of various sorts that were 25 PB and 25 GC. My alloy was as close as I can get to Lyman #2. I shot up...

I've saved a TON of money! But, you have to buy some stuff to do it... And maybe you need a new mold to save more money...
